I feel like I just watched the Idiocracy version of Running Man.

I don't know what a Peacemaker is, but I laughed, especially when the eagle shuffled up a bit to correct it's final placement.

The show is pretty good for a DC thing. It also takes place just after Suicide Squad.

DC's Hard-R/MA ventures have done pretty damn well (excluding the 4-hour Into the Snyderverse).

Birds of Prey
THE Suicide Squad
Peacemaker TV
Harley Quinn

They do a lot better when they embrace humor and over-the-top violence.

No, the opening credits for The Watchmen (film, not series) was perfect.

These credits just remind everyone that Gunn is in charge.

Why they make a series about the least interesting person in the Suicide Squad, I don't know.

Now our resident gun experts will rush in to say how bad it is to point a gun at the camera.

Any minute now.

I watched the 3 episodes that are released. The eagle is the best part.

I won't pretend to understand that.  So weird.

The blonde is a great dancer though.   The fake Eagle can suck it!

Being a horny old goat, I definitely noticed all the women. You'd THINK I'd be checking out their bodies, but I was actually somewhat distracted by noticing that Holland was a significantly better dancer than the others.

How well can this show deliver on the over-the-top-ness that this intro promises?

You know, after watching Suicide Squad I though choosing this character was..... an odd choice to base a TV show around. I mean, he was straight up gonna murder that young lady. Also.... he should be very, very dead. But it just seems weird to me to make a TV show where the main character (and presumably hero of the show) is a sociopath who says he'll murder children without remorse, ya know?

But hey, I hear there's some Penny Arcade Easter eggs stuck in there, so I'll be firing it up this weekend.

Having watched two episodes so far, I think it does a pretty good job of keeping you interested in Peacekeeper's 'lovably stupid psycho' between action sequences and the occasional shockingly absurd bit, like his dad's closet.

I would also like to say this series has appropriate sexual nudity in it.  I hate it when there's sex and they go to great efforts to hide body parts in unnatural ways for the PG rating.  I don't recall seeing any junk, but you do get Cena's ass and a couple of pairs of breasts.

It's weird, it's wonderful, it's occasionally brutally violent.  And they slip in a bit of serious drama when you're not paying attention.

Like a lot.  They got good moves out of all of them, but she immediately drew the eye for more reasons than the obvious.  (That she's Gunned girlfriend?  Kidding!!!)

Her bio says she used to be a competitive gymnast.  Mystery solved.

They take care of that pretty quickly.  He is re-thinking his core mission statement.  Slowly, because he's an idiot, but he's doing it.  He specifically is re-thinking the bit about killing children.

The writing seems to be setting him up as a well-meaning idiot who has been a dangerous psycho in the past simply because he didn't think through his cunning plan enough to realize it was evil.

The Buccaneers will eliminate it this weekend, most likely.

Exactly. Now Vigilante....he's just trying to be Deadpool of DC with all the one-liners. The bit of him hiding behind the shrub was funny though.

lol, definitely not. I'd recommend watching the new James Gunn Suicide Squad movie. That character is in it, and the movie was as good as the first one was bad (VERY).

That *was* great in it's own way, but for all-time best opening credits I have to go with the first Deadpool movie.

Closer to a Captain America, if Steve Rogers was a rabid nationalist who will preserve peace for the USA, no matter how many men, women, and/or children he has to kill to keep the peace. He was locked up in Belle Reve because he's basically a sociopath who, again, will kill literally anyone to make sure America is safe. Too dangerous to not keep on a leash. This is mainly a comedy with an action skin.

If you want more on him, watch The Suicide Squad (new one, not the crap one).

For really reals. I saw some folks on Twitter posting screenshots of a scene in a bar.... and Acq Inc's animated intro is playing on a TV in the par. And there was a Penny Arcade themed mini arcade machine on one of the tables, and another Easter egg or two too. Gabe chimed in to say they'd sent stuff to the show's folks a long, long time ago.

Just found them, here, check out for yourself:

I like this one. It may not be high art or anything but it's good for a few genuine LOLs per episode. At least it's entertaining which is more than I've been able to say for "The Book of Boba Fett" so far.

Reminds me a lot of the Harley Quinn animated series.

Cena's pretty much perfect here and his pro wrestling background serves him well in that he gets to show off his muscles and ham it up pretty much the whole time. Peacemaker is a little too similar to Star-lord in a lot of ways (especially if you've played the Guardians of the Galaxy video game that came out a few months ago) but it doesn't sink the show or anything.

I will never understand why people need everything to be "high art."

For my time, the Seinfeld tv show had the best "opening" of all shows.
It didn't have one, it just jumped right into the show wiht jerry at a club preforming a bit on something relted to the episode.

So it did have a repeating "intro" thing before the show. But it was not repeating the same thing each time, and what it filled the time with was actually the episode.

I'm not into tv show intros at all, they are to tv entertainment what grindy time is to MMOs.
If it's really good we/i do like it the first time and for a few more. but then it's pointless filler after  the first few shows for anyone that's seen, kind just even one really. So for me i figure most show intros as time padding to reduce the amount of continuous creative writing demanded for each show.

I'm not without understanding(sympathy), but then i'm not without understanding(knows wtf's up) either.

..but.. this doesn't really apply to streaming shows (like this one), which have no set running time constraints and often feature a handy "skip intro" button

My favorite gag so far is the garden gnome in episode 2. Also, James Gunn is amazing at picking music. What would Peacemaker lister to? Hair metal, obviously.

'When men were men!  And you could tell because they weren't afraid to be women.'

Probably the best summary of why long hair, make-up, and jewelry work for those bands I've ever heard.

Considering who his dad is, it makes a lot of sense that he does what he does in order to try and make dad happy.

I've got to agree. He kills one of the other main characters and I thought it was a weird choice to highlight him in a protagonist role. I haven't seen the show (and it's not like Harley Quinn's a hero and she's got her own series (which I love)), it just felt weird they'd focus on him after that.

This is super fair. Watching superhero movies shouldn't feel like a chore (looking at that 4 hrs of Snydercut) but I also found Suicide Squad super fun and funny.

Well, it is Hollywood or Hollywood adjacent, so the answer is always cocaine.
