It's been the long-term policy in the United States that the only thing which sucks more than having health insurance is not having it.

That all said, good luck *finding* an over-the-counter COVID test.  I don't know anyone who's managed to get tested outside of the testing sites set up by all the local counties.  All of those tests come with no cost.

/Office sent out an email yesterday that a deep cleaning was necessary.
//I'm glad I haven't been there in twelve months.

If you are on Medicare or uninsured...sucks to be you, poors

I mean, this is basically every policy in the US. You could even shorten it to the last five words.

This is a failure of the Biden admin, for sure, but it's hardly a new failure.

I feel bad for the poor people but the Medicare beneficiaries can go screw.

2022-01-12 7:32:15 PM
How is this going to work? You buy the test and the insurance company reimburses you?

You'll find the cost mentioned on a statement from your insurance company.

The Covid pandemic is proof universal healthcare can we work because we provided vaccines to tens and tens of millions through hundreds of thousands of distribution sites.

The Covid pandemic is also proof universal healthcare will never work because too many people will think it's a Bill Gates conspiracy to 5G your ass

Fortunately, poor and uninsured people never get sick or spread disease in the community.

2022-01-12 7:38:36 PM
Although to be fair, the uninsured and those on public insurance can still request free tests from the federal government. It's idiotic and monstrous that they're not just giving them away for free, but they can still be acquired free of charge for those people (including me), at least.

Why haven't they been sending out bottles of bleach and some hypodermic needles to every household? We could have been done with this business months ago

And then they all end up on eBay for $100 a pop.

Really? I have a family member that works there in Mountain View, I'll definitely be asking them about that.

Anticipating that asking my insurance company for reimbursement would result in hours of phone calls and paperwork that would make the result not worth the time.

They cost 75$ a pop. County paid 10K worth. So do the math. Clinic told everyone not registered through them to fark off for a test. I came up positive so I started running up to strangers and screaming JESUS BLOOD in their face. Especially the old people outside the hospital across the street. I am now an honorary state senator.

Sent from my iCu.

Why bother finding out if it's Covid if there's nothing people will do differently?

Damn. I have a two pack. Damn you Ebay and my complete and total lack of knowledge and ability or whatever.  I could use 100 bucks.

Because there's not an infinite supply. If a couple idiots want to stock up suddenly your local CVS doesn't have any left. Sucks to be everyone else, I guess?

The problem is definitely not that there are lots of tests and people can't get them. People want tests and there aren't any.

They'll pay for all the tests you can find. Also unicorns.

Remember when scientists told Joe Biden to ramp up test production in October based on the 2020 spike and Joe Biden didn't start until the week before Christmas?

🤣🤣 *slaps knee*

Classic Joe.

There could be! The government has this power.

qorkfiend: People want tests and there aren't any.

Again, this is a choice we make. The government could put a standing order in for as many tests as manufacturers can produce for the foreseeable future. The government could make the test themselves!

Making people get reimbursed through their insurance company (assuming they even have insurance) is unnecessary. Nobody likes dealing with their insurance company! Even when they have "good" insurance. It sucks! It always has. It always will.

Just give the f*cking tests away, everywhere, all of the time, for as long as necessary. We could do that. We choose this neoliberal bullsh*t instead.

Ok, none of that has to do with "give the tests away to everyone who wants them"

The only medical treatment for Those People for which Redcaps will happily empty their pockets involves the administration of whatever lethal drug cocktail the state prison bureau considers a humane and effective substitute for the poisons no reputable pharmaceutical company will still sell to American state governments.

I will, but not everybody will.  For many workers living paycheck-to-paycheck, there is no paid leave.  Many just don't care.  So, why encourage everyone to test?  Why not force employers to buy the tests for their unvaccinated employees?  Make anti-vaxxers more of a pain than they already are.

What I should say is, I will if I'm not feeling well, regardless of whether I test or not.  And I wear a mask outside of the house regardless.

These home tests are worthless. You'll need a certified rapid test from an actual medical facility to do anything, and even then they have a note reading "not good for travel". Home tests are notorious for false negatives. So clamor for your Tiger Repellent Rocks, but know they mean nothing.

Comments like this are illustrative of the Overton window's rightward shift, where in defense of Democrat's inadequate preparation, we're now saying that expecting the government to handle this shiat to actually handle this shiat is unrealistic and unreasonable.

2022-01-12 8:18:18 PM
It's really weird that I am a poor person weighing in on what it's like to be poor and how this affects me, as a poor person on public healthcare, and people laugh at my comment.

It makes no sense. Are you laughing at my poverty?

Why do the poors need covid tests?  They need to go to work and keep The Engine turning.  That is their lot in life.  Keep The Engine turning, so the elites may have a blessed life.

I can get free tests mailed to me paid for by the state of Minnesota.

We're still farked because the death cult party controls the state senate, but at least I'll be able to tell when I get covid.
