Has anyone consulted the economy and asked what it thought?

Sherlock needs more senakot apparently.  Then again, to a good portion of the population in the US, COVID is either a hoax or just a bad flu, so shouldn't be taken seriously anyway.

I am still wearing my masks and social distancing while outside, even though no one else is in stores, breweries and restaurants. With Alabama in the top 10 of COVID-19 test positivities, I am taking no chances with so many dumbasses running about.

We flattened the curve. Oh, sure, it was on the vertical axis and not the horizontal axis, but technically flat is the most American kind of flat!

A chance for folks to meet
There'll be coughing, wheezing and MAGA screaming
Dying in the street

Let's get a full on, hard core, military enforced martial law lockdown this time and end covid once and for all.  With purges of the plague rat held areas to reduce bioterror reactor / infiltrator units.

Problem solved

So, some 1,500 to 1,800 people in the US are still dying everyday from Covid, are they dying with the Delta or Omicron variant? I have not seen any reports or data about this. Are all the deaths people with Delta that got sick weeks ago or are these deaths from Omicron caught recently?

I know you are kidding, but more forceful means are required.
Quebec banned the plague rats from liquor and pot stores.

I'm not kidding.  We need a full on hot shooting war against covid to farking end this.  No more forever pandemics.  We need to farking end this, and the only way is full on war against the virus and its accomplices.

My husband and I were about to leave on vacation this morning, but the resort in question required negative tests from everybody, and he tested positive. Not sure where he could have picked it up when I did not, but the trip is off.

/we didn't want to go but didn't want to forfeit the payment
//oddly with a positive test they will refund everything
///He's quarantining in the bedroom and his office, the rest of the house is mine, all mine

I made one slip-up the end of last year and went to an engagement party (I feel like a idiot for going).
COVID ran rampant through that party including to an 18 month old child. I didn't catch it. Why?  I wore my mask the ENTIRE time (also vaccinated and boosted). I was promised masks were required, but there was just a box at the front door if people wanted one. No one else wore a mask. People eating around each other. Dancing. Singing karaoke. Food was buffet style, so when it was time to eat, I took my plate and went outside.
I tested myself three times the following week and all turned out negative. I learned my damn lesson.
I understand people are tired of COVID and want a normal life. Well, two-three weeks of total isolation will stop the spread, then you can go back to your normal life.

That sounds like what I've been dealing with the past two weeks.

Positive rapid test followed by negative PCR test, so the clinic said "not covid, STFU and GBTW".

About 10 days of headache, body ache, fever, sore throat, coughing. Tried to get tested again a few days into that, but "you just got tested, STFU and GBTW".

Now I'm full of mucous that's getting sneezed and coughed into every hand towel I own.

Maybe it wasn't covid. It could have been a bad flu or bronchitis. It SUCKED, and whatever it was I hope I didn't give it to anyone else.

Sure sounds like it. The getting better then getting sicker is almost a signature. Just like that jelly mucus. You dont want that to stay in your lungs.

No it won't unless the entire planet does it.  If the entire US did it it would stop here...for a few weeks.  Then it would come in from another country and start right back up again.

Most people I know only see the minimum end of the scale if you compare something to something else. If you say "This variant is less severe than the other variant" all they hear is "This variant is less severe". If you want people to understand you, only mention what applies directly to the thing you're talking about.

Also, it's a bad idea to talk about one set of criteria in one part of your statement, and then talk about a second set of criteria when explaining why people are misunderstanding you. If a variant is killing fewer people but still causing hospitals to be swamped, and you DON'T want hospitals to be swamped, then this variant is in no way 'less severe'. This variant is still a major problem, that's all you need to say. If someone asks "Is it killing as many people as the other variant?" you can then specify "It is causing hospitals to fill with COVID patients, which is a major problem. There do not appear to be as many deaths yet."

Notice how the first things people hear are "This variant is a major problem"? Do not ever first say anything that resembles downplaying the problem unless you want people to think the problem is over.

This concludes my lesson on how to talk to the public about serious problems.
