Um... question:  how is someone a "Racist and Homophobic Honky-Tonk Dance Instructor"?

Isn't that sort of limiting?

That episode was deeply uncomfortable. I genuinely feel bad for the guys on this show. I'm sure the producers were trying to do some bullshiat "reach across the aisle" but it's hard to do that when someone is so bigoted they can't even treat you like a human being.

Remember when this show came out years and years ago, at that point it was called queer eye for The straight Guy.  I think it was on e! network?  Anyway I actually enjoyed it, I gave a lot of good fashion tips and stuff like that. Good for a redneck troglodyte like me

She' a proud redneck who teaches line dancing at a Country/Western bar.  How is she NOT going to be a Republican?  shiat, we need to look for her on the 1/6 footage.

Netflix did not return The Daily Beast's repeated request for comment.

I'll just bet.

Porowski, Brown, Van Ness, France, and Berk also did not return requests for comment.

Leave the guys alone, they aren't in charge of anything.  They're just the talent.  If they comment, it's probably a breach of contract - especially if they say something non-positive about the production crew screwing the pooch on this.

The gay bar "The Tool Box" here used to have line dancing classes.

Did I say she taught line dancing at a gay bar?  No.  No I did not.

You go to a proudly redneck C/W bar, you know you're in with the MAGA crowd.  Being openly gay is hazardous to your health in a place like that, generally speaking.

Honestly she should be the last person calling women out with dress differently.  She dressed like a NY hooker.

The guys did not seem very comfortable working with her and I think would have dropped it if they could have.

I met my Husband at the proudly redneck gay C/W bar.
"Mabel's Beauty shop and Chainsaw Repair"

I'm just saying Stereotypes work both ways. Heck, the ROUNDUP in Nashville used to have line dancing nights.

She's a 60-year-old woman who's spent her entire working life in one of the shiattiest parts of the service industry.

I feel like this could more easily be framed as it being an impressive testament to her tolerance that she only hates black and gay people.  It's kind of on the show's producers that they didn't see this coming and avoid it in advance.  She's literally named "White" for Christ's sake, in the United States that is not a family name you pick up because your ancestor was a tinsmith.

// If your surname is 'white' and you think it's because of the renaissance profession, and you live in the US... man, it sucks when a random forum post on the internet is the bearer of bad news, I'm sorry for the spoilers about your family history, mate.

I disagree. These guys make a mission out of helping all sorts of people, especially people who seem to need the kind of help that she needed to become a better person.

I actually learned a lot about fashion and daily care from the original Queer Eye show.  I learned to start wearing bathing suits without elastic bands so there's less of a muffin top when I go to the beach.  I also learned about different shaving products, and now my face doesn't break out when I shave.  I miss the original series.  I tried watching the new one.  It was boring to me.

I know they try but they really did look uncomfortable.  I hope they made in impression on her, though it sounds like her mom the owner now is just as bad, they showed dad during the show but I don't remember them showing mom.

/They are hitting the redneck groups in this one more so then the earlier seasons, I binge watched it due to a knee replacement so the earlier seasons are still fresh.

Well, they did film this season in Texas, so you work with what's available, I guess.

I bought the book. The recipe for steak alone is worth the price.

I found it interesting that Jonathan focused on her hair (wig), getting it out of her face but not doing anything to help her skin.

Kind of like "we want people to see the real you", which is a double-edged sword.

The Bravo series ran from 2003-2007.  The Netflix reboot with ALL NEW guys has been on since 2018.  The most recent batch of 10 dropped on New Years Eve.

How exactly would this be "free publicity" be such a boon? If true wouldn't being on the show drive the usual customers away?

If TFA is basing this whole controversy on Yelp reviews, it helps to remember you should take Yelp reviews of bars with the whole damn salt shaker. Angry drunks throw out all kinds of accusations after suffering such injustices as getting cut off, servers that insist they pay their farking tab, and being told to get out after closing time.

I can think of a number of Black people with the last name White. I have sometimes wondered if it's a burden, or something to just grow indifferent to.

Only people I've seen get away with it regularly are local gay people that have managed "liked eccentric weirdo" status somewhere, mostly due to 19 generations of their family having run half the town.  Even then it's shaky
