(Food Network)   Well crap. I guess I should have kept that panini press that I inherited and never used once. AKA that one time that Alton Brown crammed a spatchcocked game hen in a sandwich machine   (foodnetwork.com) divider line

You can accomplish the same thing with two cast iron skillets

Is this something he did on a dare at a college frat party or something?

I... infrequently somewhat regret donating the george foreman grill? $mai_waifu had... not just one but two of the blasted things?! gifted by Aged Relicts* naturellement. we'd never once the counter space for it, and usage was few and far between, so... eh.

*I forget if this is a JKJ or Sayers or Willis or Wodehouse epithet, but regardless I truly adore it... simply refers to: "meddling Aunts"

but I do occasionally wish for luxurious idle laziness of the things. as RaceDTruck suggests, I'll turn up the gas ring up to "STUPID" under our calphalon anodized 11"sq ridged grill-pan, and slap another heavier cast iron pan on top. and yet I still miss the quaint Americana that is an electric panini press...

I got a cornish game hen tonight at the store.

It might get spatchcocked because how do you wait an hour for such a tiny little buddy to cook?

Mostly I murdered a smol birb as a joke.

Our panini press makes the best grill cheese sandwich since my childhood. My mom did the same magic with the flat side of her waffle iron plate, which they no longer make, and she long since discarded.

You can substitute using half a cup of double click and backspace, or plain yogurt.

Substitute 4Q mayonnaise if you don't have any plain yogurt

What have they done to Alton?

A panini press?

You could've used two cast iron skillets like in For Whom the Cheese Melts, or bricks wrapped in aluminum foil like in Where There's Smoke, There's Fish or Fowl Territory

/hasn't had cable since before reloaded came out

It's not a total unitasker but it walks a mighty fine line.

Many moons before Foreman grills became "the thing" I used to take my waffle iron and flip to the flats and make burgers. Used a little shim at the back so the grease would flow.

Guess I could have been a millionaire if I had thought more. C'est la vie

His pot roast reloaded is amazing. And once I get properly in the swing of meal prepping again, will become a regular in the rotation, since it become 100x better as leftovers.

He caught a lot of flak on the beer homebrewing forums for cooling his wort with ice, which is terrible for sanitation, but I do like how he explains stuff with science
