Why does it keep needing saving?

wildcardjack: Why does it keep needing saving?

Don't know.  We had a case study back in 1980 that basically said, "Let it die already."

Lee Iaccoca would comment, but he's moved on to where Chrysler will be shortly as well.

The company that made the PT Cruiser and the Prowler? Yeah, how about no.  Maybe they can do something besides slam ever increasing hp gas guzzlers into 10 year old designs for the Charger and Challenger.

Their branding has been nostalgia, Hemis and Challengers leading the way. How long before the children of nostalgia becomes nostalgia themselves?

And make them affordable.

Pretty sure Chrysler has been trying to die for at least 40 years. Let it die, it's suffered enough. They somehow manage to make cars just good enough to keep them just viable enough to get handed around, but never good enough to be a stable business that doesn't need regular bailouts.

Build a freakin' Tahoe / Suburban platform off the Ram truck chassis already and stick the Chrysler badge on it.

How you haven't done this already borders on corporate malfeasance

And the Grand Wagoneer doesn't count. Does the stupid roll-up rear window still break in the down position every 100 miles or so? (Especially when it's below zero outside?)

Killing the Dodge Caravan to build the Chrysler Pacifica was an incredible self own by FCA. Making that car a Caravan could have finally let Chrysler die off rather than get zombiefied.

Why? Chrysler doesn't have the same cachet as Cadillac or even Lincoln. Good idea to make them though, but better to stick with Ram and Jeep when it comes to branding.

Well, yeah. If it was gonna happen, it needed to happen 15 years ago at least, but back then everyone was afraid the large SUV market was doomed. They still think that, yet that type of vehicle still sells like gangbusters.

I expect in 10 years Tahoes and full size trucks will still be a giant percentage of the market, and we'll still be hearing in the press about how everyone wants to drive an electric refrigerator box.

And there is no Lee Iaccoca with a revolutionary front wheel drive platform to save them, either.

At this point, the brands are so damaged, they probably should all go away.

Peugeot was supposedly desiring a return to North America. The merger created the opportunity for them to move right into Chrysler dealerships without having to do a whole lot of real estate investment to get those franchises going.

It must stay in the Shadow as to receive much Acclaim. It's legend is already higher then the Cirrus, got to keep it below the Stratus. An Intrepid vehicle indeed.

Proud prior owner of a 1998 Neon ACR here, complete with deletion of the A/C to save weight. I added some go-fast parts that included exhaust header, engine ECU (to remove the speed limiter and also benefit from use of premium unleaded), Comp cams, and Mahle pistons that pushed compression above 11:1 (maybe closer to 12:1). Conservatively it was 225 horsepower without turbocharging - a large improvement over the stock 150 horsepower. Th

there aren't many solo Chrysler dealers though. nearly all are paired up other Stellantis brands.

You can still kill Chrysler and preserve Peugeot's strategy.
