You know what hurts them worse? No snow.

FTA: "They had already sorted out the contributions of the pesky elk herds by following them around with clipboards and tracking how often nature called."

What a sh*tty job that must have been.

"And if people know that they're contributing a significant amount of pollution, they might want to change their behavior," said Baron, who is writing up the results for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Snerk.

Where the vegetables are green,
And you can pee into a stream.
We're back from the Shadows again!

That was oddly educational.

If you think this is bad, some of the NPS backcountry routes have become so popular that there are massive rodent problems because of human poop. You're supposed to take your poop with you, but I suspect few people do.

The human, direct, we-can't-hold-it-any-longer amount of the total nitrogen at Loch Vale is about 2%

So as usual the big polluters are agricultural sites, but let's bother hikers about where they pee instead.  I guess this counts as "point sources":

When you're on a long hike peeing in nature is the only option. Poo, however--you're supposed to bury it 6-8" down, 200+ yards from the trail and 200+ yards from water; pack it out of if you can't.  In mountain conditions that 200+ yard requirement is generally impossible, thus WAG bags are the only acceptable option.  How many of those tourists even know what a WAG bag is??

Nice work, as usual, "overachievers."   You better drink some more energy drinks so you can pee more energetically while you're out there raping more wilderness. Because MORE.

These are pretty clean lakes if the amount of ammonia in them is noticeably affected by the people who are willing to hike up to 11,000 feet to piss in them.

There is a Diesel fluid shortage. Use your imagination. Direct deposit to your account after each... deposit.

I see your hikers and raise you the surrounding ranches and farms and their millions of tons of ferizer and manure and waste. Fark off.
