1) Issue ultimatum you know it's impossible to agree to.
2) claim that you have to attack as they haven't agreed to your ultimatum

It's what he has been offering for 7 years, now.

The fact that he is verbalizing the threat explicitly shows you how desperate he is becoming.

You think this is something only white men do?  Have you looked at the history of Africa and Asia?  Some of the worst atrocities of the 20th Century were committed because Japan was fed up with China acting like they were the Big Dick of Asia for hundreds of years and decided to show them who was REALLY the Big Dick of Asia.

To be fair, I don't think Dotard had slunk onto his lectern stand yet. He looked slightly taller than Putin, but nowhere near the 6'3, his handlers claimed he is.

Can you imagine how easy it would be for Putin to walk all over eastern Europe if Trump was still president?

Trump rolled back Russian sanctions, undermined NATO, appointed ambassadors hostile to Europe, pushed to let Russia back into the G8, withdrew troops from Syria, extorted Ukraine by withholding military aid, ignored Russian bounties on US personnel, pulled troops out of Germany, started a trade war with the EU, declared Crimea part of Russia, ignored US intelligence agencies in favor of Putin's word, supported Brexit, destroyed the US' standing in the world, parroted Russian talking points.

He's backing himself into a corner and he's dangerous but we also know that Russian troops have equipment and supply issues even in their own country. We shouldn't underestimate the threat but we shouldn't exaggerate it either.
Who knew that siphoning a country's wealth into a few kleptocrats' pockets could hurt the readiness of their forces?

Best way to placate and satisfy Putin is to give him a sliver of eastern Ukraine so that they have access directly to Crimea. And I am going to be honest I am not a fan of Putin. Should have had him dropped back in the 1990s when he was first spotted as an emerging threat. Back when he was just a mirror Saint Petersburg and stealing food from his people and running stolen cars out of Europe.

Sadly we're stuck with it so we should just give them what they want is a sliver Eastern Europe to Crimea. They're going to need access to that poor anyway if we are going to use them in potential Wars with China.

Russia has been the u.s. is Wayward Ally. We've always had to deal with this s***. This is no different than the past.

Turning Putin's little green men into hamburger meat was a defensive action.  They farked around and found out by testing our resolve without air cover.  It had NOTHING to do with Trump.

Putin doesn't want Europe. He doesn't want NATO on his doorstep. Who would? Seriously, NATO was an alliance to help stop the Soviet Union. Russia is the largest part of that union and retains power over the region- as you would expect. Putin does not want Ukraine to be part of NATO and that is his chief demand. I don't think Psaki is right- I think NATO is not going to continue to grow.

I really hope that this is bad parody, because if not, it's one of the most moronic takes I've seen yet. Flipping from our position of strength, to giving this washed-up schoolyard bully a city of half a million Ukrainians, 350 km of strategically vital coastline, a few thousand square miles of hinterlands so that the corridor feels "secure," and undoubtedly the Crimea-sized swath out to the Dnieper River so that Crimea's water supply will be secure, is one of the more cowardly non-starters I've ever seen, and should honesty have been delivered to Fark on Kremlin letterhead.
