"And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night. And one by one dropped the revellers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall. And the life of the ebony clock went out with that of the last of the gay. And the flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all."

My parents neighbor did the whole black grey thing, I don't like it but it is not as bad as this place.

They sold it, it sold again, then again, now on Homestead Modern (AirBNB type company)
It rents for $2,400 a day, so they did well.

Here in California the asking price is has been insane for the last year, people will buy it and repaint those ugly walls
Well at least COVID did something good for me, it kept rich L.A  and O.C. people from travelling far away so they came out here to buy, plus Coachella always brings a lot of people to my area.
My house has gone up $340,000 in two years, how can I complain about that unless I was trying to buy now? My parents have two houses, here they have gone up 2 million since they bought them.

To be honest Coachella started the influx before COVID.
My house, 4 bed room 4 bath, 4,350 square feet. I got lucky, I bought it when the market was shiat.
My parents bought 7 acres of pristine desert property had a custom house built for $360,000, now they just got offered 1.7 Million. They also bought a super old 3 bedroom 1950's house on 1/4 acre for $50,000 to use as storage and is now worth $220,000.

Are tiles classy in USA?

Here tiles are used in cheap bathrooms at best. Otherwise floors are hardwood.

I guess hardwood can be damaged easier, which requires sanding.

ISO15693: Isnt "Santa Clarita" spanish for "little Santa Clara"?

No.  Santa Clarita is Spanish for "City where upper middle class white people go to watch soccer practice and eat at Applebees."  It's a regional dialect.

You are aware that California is not all desert right. The north coast is a temperate rain forest.

Ok here is my take on tile since living with it for two years for the most time in my life, carpet is quiet and warm, fees good, goes to shiat after 5 years of wear, kids pets, etc.
Wood is a little but looks friendly, you scratch the shiat out of with the rocks in your shoes and it does not come out. You can hide it, but the scratches are always there unless you sand it back down.
shiatty red terracotta tiles suck, my parents did that never do that they fall apart, scratch pop and crack.  Real stone is cold and hard, but easy to sweep and mop and looks great for many decades to a hundred years.

You see in my pictures above, I have real wood, real slate tiles plus 4 bedrooms with carpet. I live in the desert with rocks so I know that carpet feels better but it hides all the rocks and will not last.

My solution use a small electric vacuum by the door and wear socks or slippers inside.

My carpet in the bedrooms and front family room.  Al have issues from wear and stains.
