The best countermeasure against crows during breeding season is to ignore them

Or just feeding them shelled, unsalted peanuts.  Eventually you'll get a family that will know you as a friendly human.  They're like regular neighbors, except they can be bribed off way more cheaply.

Will conflict rise again when the infection situation settles down? We will have to see.

Narrator? Is that you?

Some birds are real. Even though they've been replacing them with surveillance devices since 1977, they haven't got them all. That would be ridiculous.

Don't mess with wild crows because they remember human faces.

In Rochester they had to use lasers and fireworks to get them to leave Washington Square Park and shiating literally square inch on the park.

Less trash, less birds throwing trash around.
Wonder how the near ground rodent population is doing.

Um, don't they use dumpsters with lids in Japan?

There's obviously less waste from restaurants around but I doubt people are eating less in Japan. I would think commercial waste containers are harder to get into than regular garbage cans.

Do you recall the video of the cyclist with a crow (or was it a magpie?) chasing and attacking his head as he rode? Thread was maybe a few months ago.
So, anyhoo, about two weeks ago I'm riding my bike in the park parking lot near me, doing intervals where I slow down to relax then speed up for a burst. During one of these bursts I managed to startle some crows that were drinking water from a puddle.
About 30-40 yards past that I hear what sounds like a mini helicopter two feet behind my head, I swing my head around and see this storm of feathers just behind me.
Turned my head back to see where I'm going, grabbed my helmet's buckle, unsnapped it and swung it over my head just guesstimating where that bird would be.

I was not bothered again. I take it they also recognize that some people don't take well to getting fly-bys.

/did not make contact by the way, just close enough for it realize I was serious and that trying to buzz me wasn't worth it

The crows in my hood come in to eat the kibble I put out for the porch kitties. I don't disturb them and quietly talk to them.

Recently, I've been finding trinkets on the porch. One of my neighbors is missing their Subaru keys.
