What do they want with a low-cost 3D engine?  Are they going to update their technology to make better-looking propaganda videos?

"In an apparent echo of official propaganda, Pyongyang citizen Won Jong Rim told the Associated Press Television News that "our great general (Kim Jong-Il) went through so much hardship, pushing his way along such an arduous path, to build a paradise here, achieving what the people want."

If I said this I'd be shot. Not for my sarcastic tone of voice, but for the jerk off motion my hand would involuntarily have to do.

I suppose they raised a glass of Hennessy while entertaining visiting NBA players and torturing some political prisoners.  That's celebrating North Korean style.

Modern day dictatorships are hard to overcome. Technology has tilted the scales so far to the ruling class that an overthrow of the government by the populace (not the military) is near impossible. If you are a dictator, have a strong military, and can keep the military in line you could stay in power forever no matter how you treat the populace.

Only if we can get our hands on those sweet, sweet 'rare-earth minerals' for our cellphones, then we will care about North Korea.

If you hold your people's very lives in your hands through resource shortages keep them terrified of you through examples made of those who cross you, or even think of crossing you, your people won't have the will or the means to rise up against you.

Sexy Jesus: What sort of a failed state does mass executions anyways?
[Fark user image 425x272]

It's almost as if some nations can learn from the wrongs of the past and work towards a more just future, whereas others are still run by strongmen who are completely and totally unaccountable to their people in any way, shape, or form, and criticism such as yours would result in your immediate death (as well as your entire family sent to a prison camp). Funny how that works.

Though I'm sure if you visited North Korea you'd be welcomed with open arms for your vigorous defense of the Kim regime, and you surely wouldn't return years later in a coma only to die a few days later.

/smh

North Korea is COVID-19-free.  Because anyone who tests positive for it comes down with a case of bullets.

Which side are you trying to defend here?

Maybe that's the point.
