Jesus, that gushy article about how great Biden is was so saccharine I think my brain rotted reading it.

Yes, the infrastructure bill is a good thing. Is this just overcompensating by the author now to change the narrative where progressives hated it and wanted to block its passage because it wasn't tied to BBB? Even Biden said he was going to veto it, now he's out trumpeting it's benefits.

Maybe leave the doublethink to the Republicans, we on the left don't have memories of goldfish.

DNRTFA.  But passing that bill was a huge win.  There is no way to deny that.  It will provide more for this country than we have seen in entirely too long.

It's going to be hard to deny the benefits when people are working, and repairs are made nationwide.

But in the face of all that, you will see the Republicans trash it.  They'll find reasons.  And the Dems will glorify Biden for it, which will just make the Reps trash it more.

This is one of those examples I like to cite when I see those talking heads parrot things like, "Biden's failing agenda."  What failing agenda?  It seems to me that he has accomplished a lot.  And this infrastructure bill is a HUGE example that cannot be denied unless you stick you head straight up your ass.

Is this the bill that allows AOC to go door-to-door to take everyone's guns and turns the country into a socialist hellscape that crashes the free markets? Because I have it on good authority that's what we can expect with democrats in charge.

Maybe the Republicans could have pulled this off if they didn't have those obstructionist democrats, as well as thick-headed obstacles within their own party, throwing up roadblocks all over the place.

If TFG wanted infrastructure done, the time to do it would have been the summer and fall of 2020. It would have put people back to work, and mostly outdoors and distanced. Instead we got crap about a China hoax and how it was all going to be gone after the 2020 election.
TFG was a terrible president, and he's still a terrible American and a terrible person.

I want the BBB passed so we can get more than just nice roads, trains and buses and (maybe) better internet, but those ideas are dead. The Conservative Democratic Party members colluded with the Republicans to make sure wealthy people didn't get slightly inconvenienced by higher taxes, and by having to put pollution controls on their businesses. I voted for Biden. Maybe you have me confused with someone else? In any case, this was the passage I was referring to:

"President Biden's victory lap is well deserved. He did what presidents have been trying and failing to do for decades on infrastructure...
Joe Biden doesn't have to spend his time tweeting and elevating imaginary accomplishments because he is doing the real thing. Biden is making it happen..
Each Biden success not only helps the country come back better and stronger"

Like I said, this gushy puff piece is almost insulting to the reader given all of the hate being piled on this bill by so-called Democrats. Who is the author trying to convince?

2021-12-09 8:23:22 AM
One of the provisions in the law is money for "rural broadband" which is the same scan COMCAST has been using to collect government subsidies without having to actually produce anything for decades.

If there isn't any mechanism to enforce these companies to produce a result ,I don't see this law as anything but a hand-out to Wall Street which has been getting more frequent since 2008.

Let's see if we actually see new "Infrastructure" before we brag about how awesome it will be.

Nothing Easley writes is worth wasting a single second on unless you are looking for lessons in how write hagiography (badly). I can't stand his crap either. It's always just a mushy little book-jacket blurb. Never a straight fact, never a hard-eyed analysis. Just immediacy, like a tweet without the 280-character limit.

I visited Italy not too long ago.  After driving up and down over mountains in New England, I drove straight through mountains in Italy, in modern tunnels.  Taking off from Malpensa airport, I arrived at JFK to see water pouring through the ceiling into a Rubbermaid trash can.  Farking Italy.

Wait until you have to pay tolls because Republicans wrote 'selling our infrastructure to private companies'. The Republicans wrote that in to sabotage the Democratic party in claiming sole credit for the bill. Every toll plaza the driver can say "The democrats did this".
