(Gizmodo)   The Expanse's final season was truncated to six episodes because Bezos's pocket lint was already spent on the LotR prequel   (gizmodo.com) divider line

Six episodes is not enough. Someone needs to hold Jeff Bezos upside down and shake him until enough money falls out of his pockets to make at least four more.

Well he certainly didn't spend it on the CGI for Wheel of Time.

This show really did become Game of Thrones in space, huh?

/last season had its moments, but not as good as previous seasons.

So far I actually liked season 1 and 2 most. I've gotten stuck on season 4. Disappointing. :(

Season 5 is better. Season 4 isn't great but the book it's based on isn't great either.

I'm trying to finish the 7th book but it's been a slog too. Probably should have stopped at 6

The tv series is only doing the first six (of nine total) books. There is also a collection of short stories that have had some input to the TV series. There are hints that maybe some items of the last 3 books will be brought into the sixth TV season, but it is mostly speculation.

I liked the social and political aspects of the early seasons, and the detective character. The protomolecule stuff took over.

The writers really don't understand how militaries, military juntas, dictatorships, pirates, navies, or even marginalized societies actually function, resulting in some really weird and not-great stuff with the Martians and Belters and the chain of command stuff and it just made me sad. Also, my subject is history, and it's pretty clear the writing team thinks they understand it but really, really don't, but few people are as unteachable about history like people from a literary background. :(

I'm basically in it for Avasarala at this point, because I love Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Good.  I thought the show was great, the last season was ok, and the last episode was a pile of shiat.  I just want it all to end before it spoils the series even more.

True. I can mostly ignore that because SPACESHIPS!

The books made it make a lot more sense though. I watched the shows first and missed a bunch of motivation.

I'd agree a lot of the middle of the series became tedious to read but I thought book 8 really picked up.  I'm 2/3 way through book 9 now and it's been a little bit of a slog. I'd have expected some really big things but maybe the last 1/3 will blow my socks off.

The end of last season of the show gave me hope with the post credits scene but the trailer for new season either is only showing a little stuff to keep the real goods under wraps or there are no real goods.  I suspect the latter as there's no way to cram all that story into 6 episodes, even if they're longer and I haven't seen any reference to extended length.

Still I hold out hope as this has been largely one of my favorite series.

Pre-time jump. Which makes sense as a natural end point for the story going on and doing a mini-series on the last three books works fine, which I hope they get to do

Shrug.

It's sci-fi, they can make human societies function however they want. It seems pretty clear they at least put a lot of thought into plausible future tech, problems with space travel, physics in space, space warfare, etc though, which I appreciate.

That's a shame. The Expanse is great, and IMO, gives me the same feels that the 200x BSG did, and sometimes even better. I forgot which season I didn't like, (4, the one after the ring/planet side?)

But everything leading up to the Belters and what they did with the stealth tech had me on the edge of my seat. I didn't care much for the ending of season 5 (and the whole rescue Naomi from her own dumb actions AGAIN got tired), but the whole series' attention to detail really is great. I got a kick out of Amos recognizing he starts and stops at whatever it is he needs, and he needs the Cap' to help find ways to do that without murder.

It is honestly, it's so rare these days to get a show through six seasons. In the current era that we're in, that's a miracle in and of itself.

What bullshiat, when the number of episodes in a "season" doesn't even hit double digits..

Babylon 5 - five seasons - 110 episodes (and 6 movies)
The Expanse - six seasons - 62 episodes

Manipulative?  Sure.  Handsome and charming... when Nagata was young.  That is how she relayed it to us.

The actor sucked.  Book Inaro was persuasive.  Show Inaro is a bad actor giving bad speeches in his poorly written story arc.
