Once the GOP takes over house and senate in 2022, I can see data sovereignty being the next thing that they fark up.  Companies should start migrating their data elsewhere.

Well, that's not wrong.

We're not like Germany where data security is so serious that a box pops up and asks you if you want the cookie and everyone is annoyed into clicking yes because they still have plenty of profile data to sell

"Cookie Data" is the name of my Cibo Matto lo-fi cover band.

I do not accept a Republican takeover as a foregone conclusion, I think I'll wait until people vote...

War game it until after the election. If the results are no good, get data out of dodge before their coronation.

You don't live in CA. Every site I go to I have to click through a cookie monster. Since I have most sites set for delete immediately (love the forget me not plug-in) I have to click through each time. I also use Ghostery and uBlock Orgin. My latest is Hide Fixed Elements for those annoying floating videos and the bars across the top that eat a few sentence when using the space bar to page down.

I pretty much do all I can to keep my data mine and not theirs.

The point is that the GDPR's toothless and the CCPA's even weaker. All they have to do to sell your shiat to make a composite of you is get your "consent" and clicking "I accept" in that stupid box is sufficient.

That is why I am proactive and look out for myself the best I can. I agree it is stupid to require you to agree to see the site. I kill most of the requests with the Hide Fixed Elements. It works fine most of the time.

The deal here is yeah, in CA no matter where I go I have to deal with the stupid agree box. Well, not really sometimes. You can scroll with a smaller viewing area fine on most of them. At this point I have no idea if they claimed my data or not. It is not clear on any of them what they collect and when.

I know I am in the minority with my toys but I know I have to try to look out for myself no matter what they claim.

They aren't wrong.

Privacy laws in the US only won't go far enough to inconvenience Zuckerberg.
