Mixed feelings on this.  On the subject of these specific chodes, smug satisfaction.  On the generalized subject of using this strategy for board meetings, discomfort.

I much prefer the tried and true method of just making every board meeting so insufferable and long that nobody shows up in the first place.  I call it The Passive Lockout Maneuver.

I think those two "dads" were shooting off the mouths vociferously* because the School Superintendent is named
Hafedh Azaiez

*probably planned  (due to name Hafedh) by one of the KochBros/Steve Bannon putsches on School boards

Scum, like all rightwingers.

We should have laws banning people without children from having anything to do with children.  Ban them from school board meetings and ban their taxes from schools so they can't claim they have a right to speak.

Only parents should be speaking at the meetings.  And ONLY if they doxx themselves first.  Total and complete openness when it comes to children.

When did "Communists!" become the insult to run for?  It has a very specific meaning around economic theory, and that meaning doesn't apply here.

Yes. You are being silenced.

Because you couldn't be trusted with your right to free speech, and abused it until those around you no longer care or have a duty to listen.

Now sit down. Grownups are talking.

When we surrendered to, variously, al Qaeda, Syria and the Talibs, "you're with us or you're with the terrorists" lost much of its luster.

They overused "socialist" so much that it lost its punch with the olds and the young ones started to see it as a good thing.

While Clark initially started speaking at board meetings to oppose mask mandates in schools, both he and Story expressed concerns about Hafedh Azaiez, a candidate the school board was considering for superintendent. Despite their concerns and those of two members of the school board, the five other school board members voted to hire Azaiez rather than wait to investigate him.

I enjoy that wording.  It implies that a couple of randos must have their "concerns" addressed because reasons.

Rattlesnake Rattles Me: What's a pederast?

About 15 to life.

I spent over a decade in the local media covering meetings like this, hundreds and hundreds of them in a dozen different towns.  It's the same everywhere: the board (or council, or committee, depending on the type of meeting it is) will tell members of the public to stay on topic and stay relevant to the meeting. Sometimes you have to stay relevant to a specific topic, sometimes just to things pertaining to the board you're in front of. Depends on the meeting and which public comment portion it is.

They will also enforce time limits. They will ESPECIALLY enforce them if there is a large crowd of speakers.

This is pretty standard procedure. It should be obvious why such procedure exists, too. It's not about infringing speech, it's about affording the board the ability to do its damn job. There is a time and a place and all that jazz.

In all those years, I saw a decent number of people kicked out and a small handful arrested. In all but one egregious case of abuse of power, which involved a personal dispute between someone on the board and the speaker, it was because the SPEAKER was trying to run roughshod over the meeting, wanted to grandstand, and would not abide by the meeting rules. They were there to cause chaos.

Yes, small town councils and school boards are often petty little fiefdoms. I've seen that a million times, too. But with loudmouths at meetings, even then they either just ignore the complainer or get into a back-and-forth argument with them. No one is getting dragged out unless they're truly being a purposeful, knowing disruption.

Don't get me wrong, I know there have been exceptions. Politicians can be ASSHOLES and for sure abuse what little power they have. No question about it.

I've seen enough of the kind of jackholes in this article, however, to have a pretty good idea of which way the wind was blowing.

It's called democracy. It's a crappy idea that is all the rage these days. It can be defined as the concept that a white, unmarried, childless farmer in Ohio should have control over the life of a Hispanic, married person with 5 kids in New York, and vis versa.

Until people realize this is a bad idea, inspite of the years of propaganda telling them that it's great, this will go on.  It's literally what democracy is all about.
