FTFA:  "We're a low-lying state, we're a storm-prone state, and we're a flood-prone state," DeSantis said at a news conference in Oldsmar...,"

They're planning seawall improvements and raising the elevation of fire stations.  Anything that might actually do any long-term good is straight out.

They're turning Florida into a swimming pool, and not a nice swimming pool like you find at the community center.  It's the abandoned pool from the decades-ago shut down motel out by highway 59 -- the one with the racoons.  I'd recommend a tetanus shot before swimming, but DeathSantis has probably outlawed that.

Anybody want a boat launch on the 4th floor?

Jetties on the coast built with the bones of those filthy Libs.

It could work!

The projects include new pump stations, stormwater sewers, sea walls, canal bank improvements, the elevation of fire stations and other steps to cope with the increased risk of flooding.

Sounds like something a Democrat would propose to do.

He'll build dikes from the corpses of COVID victims?  He seems to be creating a lot of those...

He should mandate entrances be installed on the second and third floors of all multi-story buildings, and floats attached to all single story buildings. Then he can turn Florida into Venice With Gators!

Bootleg: He should mandate entrances be installed on the second and third floors of all multi-story buildings, and floats attached to all single story buildings. Then he can turn Florida into Venice With Gators!

Or they can just walk over the rubble of collapsed condos.

So he's doing socialism things but as long as he calls them anti-socialism then he's good to go.

This guy sounds like a Republican.

Stop asking for federal money when hurricanes it. That's welfare and welfare is left-wing.

He's going to follow the plans laid out by Little Benny ShapShap. The people will just sell their property and move.

It's Florida. Their only options are to shoot guns at the sea or fill it with bath salts.

At least they're moving past the "nothing is happening" phase of climate change denial.

Baby steps.

Riiiiiight  -- so engage with all the solutions proposed by environmentalists and their academic agents, but fail to give them any credit -- other than calling them names.

Ron DeSantis wants to borrow "The Left's" homework 🙄

It's like how they keep raising the seawall to protect the $5mm+ homes on Balboa Island CA but not rolling coal past the banana stand is right out

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a series of steps to defend Florida against rising sea levels Tuesday, even as he denounced the use of the term "global warming" as a "pretext to do a bunch of left-wing things."

I'm sorry, I'm having a bad head day. Remind me, why is the sea level rising? If we're taking steps to combat the consequences, it's happening, and things on the scale of "70% of the planet surface is getting bigger" don't happen randomly.

He knows he doesn't need facts, his supporters pay no attention to such things. His policy positions are purely self-serving, and once he's done playing his power games, he'll be able to retire to somewhere more than 100' above sea level.

2005 and Katrina called about your sea walls and pumps and said "that's sure to work".

These right-wing assholes better be glad that thoughts and prayers don't actually work, because they'd be in serious trouble if they did.

They're going to get out there with buckets, and jail bail water until the sea level lowers aren't they?

Haha, J/K they're going to hire a TFG Construction team and pay them Billions in tax dollars to do it, each employee at roughly $8 an hour and the ever important CEO who donated to the campaign will get $500 mil, for the contract for the Bucket Bail.

2021-12-08 12:15:40 PM
Did... did DeSantis just acknowledge climate change is real, even if he didn't use that exat term?

RINO!  RINO I SAY!!

2021-12-08 12:15:44 PM
"The governor submitted 76 projects to the state Legislature to improve drainage, raise sea walls and take other steps to fight flooding across the state. The state would spend about $270 million, with local matches typically required. "

Feels like a drop in the ocean.  Also, without addressing the actual causes, this is all just show.

Maybe he can pile up the corpses of the people he had killed with his anti-science BS around the beach.

2021-12-08 12:16:11 PM
So God is content to let rising sea levels wipe out humanity unless He gets sufficient begging?

Huh.

I imagine Hitler had the same concerns.

So, essentially he's admitting the sea level is rising but still doesn't like the term global warming?  Ah well, baby steps.

Works for me. The sooner Florida is under water the sooner they can stop farking up this country and AZ can get a FARK tag.

2021-12-08 12:21:48 PM
I have given this rising seawater issue some serious thought and think I may have come up with a very simple solution. Multiple very large pumps to pump the rising sea water and the sea water would be pumped through large discharge pipes 20 miles off the coast. No worries about contamination or pollution as it is just sea water being pumped into another part of the ocean.

Hmmmmmmmm. I this is good idea. I'm gonna look into it.

Basically, if you're stuck on a sinking boat with DeSantis, do not give him a bucket.

Florida is shiat and shiat floats.  The only thing keeping it from floating away is the massive suckage coming from Alabama and Georgia.

Farking King Canute all over again, thinking he can control the *)(*@# tides.

The point of the King Canute story is that he was demonstrating to the Court and Nobles that a King is *not* all-powerful, not that he believed that he was.

Floridians will migrate Northward into Georgia and Alabama to escape the rising seas. Not sure how they'll be received, but Southern Hospitality being what it is, I'm sure they'll be happy to make room for twenty-two million refugees.

...so he admits sea levels are rising and that that's catastrophic to his state then.

Good. Progress.

2021-12-08 12:49:08 PM
I am guessing that he is planning to dust off George Dubya Bushs plan to build seawalls at the taxpayer's cost around the estates of very, very rich people, like those of Jupiter Island, the Billion Dollar sandbar.

The GOP -- solutions for people and corporations with too much money!
