Some time in the last 12 months, the skin in my face lost all its elasticity and now I look like 10 years older. It's super depressing.

Of course, this is only indirectly attributable to the pandemic inasmuch as the pandemic disrupted my work project schedule and now I am killing myself to try to get back on track, plus the fact that I have a nasty commute now that I didn't have before, which probably has more to do with it.

(I could probably undo some of the damage if I was able to go back to not working 10-12 hour days, not getting up at 5:30 in the morning, not being 20 pounds overweight, and actually getting exercise outside like I used to.)

I'm in better physical shape. Lost a lot of my bust, at least two inches off my true waist. Gained a little arm definition and broader shoulders. Managed to get LASIC around all the shutdowns so, no more glasses.

I think I look older though. Like I aged a decade in a year.

It's not my shoes that are too tight.

Geez, I've been working from home for over twenty months now. I don't even want to try on any of the business-casual apparel sitting idle in my closet.

My hair is a completely different texture than it was in January 2020. It was stick straight most of my life and now it is most definitely curly. I have no idea what to do with it. My skin is still okay, though the frown lines between my eyes are WAY more pronounced than they were before all this.

I've actually lost a bunch of weight. Going on rage walks will do that.

The fact that my self-improvements have gone up during all this, including weight loss, further adds to my suspicion that I am the negative polarity of society.

Topical retinoids -- helps promote collagen in your skin.  It's like the one active ingredient available that dermatologists agree actually does something to prevent/reduce wrinkles etc., unlike all the BS that skincare companies push in  their products.  Differin is OTC and seems to work great.

I used to be a fit healthy guy, the very idea of drinking on my own, or not in a pub, was ridiculous to me... in fact in the early days of pandemic and lock down I got in the best shape of my life. But then I had a personal trauma, I was very down for a while and I discovered that actually not only was drinking beer at home great for helping me cope, but so was chocolate.

Now I'm the heaviest I've been in a long while. I'm not sure if the pandemic is to blame, but everyone will always think so.

I suspect it's peoples feet going to a more natural size / shape after not being squished in shoes day after day.

I've had wide feet for years, and a friend recommended Altra shoes.  They're not cheap, but REI occasionally has them on sale, and they're cheaper than the many trips to podiatrists that can't figure out what's wrong with your foot.

They also take a little getting used to.  They're made for runners who are supposed to run on their toes, not strike heel first, so many of their models don't have under heel padding... so try them out in a store before you buy them

I just wish they didn't tend towards obnoxiously bright colors

/should've bought a few backup pairs when they had an all black model a couple years back

Careful! In my experience, clothes shrink if you don't wear them regularly.

It's not been so bad since Febuary, but the first few months were, frankly, a disaster. People were scrambling with no guidance from our leaders. Not saying it's good, but it's been better lately. The vaccines have helped a lot with reducing the stress of being outside the house.

The thing is, the pandemic is only about a third of what's been affecting people over the last few years...

I gained 50lbs in 2020. In 2021, I lifted heavy 2x/week for a year straight, walked everyday, cut back the booze, ate my greens, and I'm still huge. I developed edema and my feet grew a size. I'm almost at the talk to my doctor about this phase. Glad I'm not alone.

I saw a face cream with caffeine in it. Claimed it will "perk up" your skin. Sigh.

Cut out the booze and triple your greens intake.  Eat smaller portions of lean proteins, and for the time being, cut your carbohydrate intake to less than 50g a day.

The weight will come off.

I had to replace my dryer and my fridge this year. Normally I'd just chalk it up to bad luck but after reading this article I'm going to blame it on Covid.

They make regular shoes too.  You don't have to buy the running ones.  I've worn nothing but Altras and Keens for close to ten years now.

These are my "office" shoes.

Not only can I no longer dance, but my once male-model looks have gone, my mental acuity is shot, and the pandemic gave me the scent of stale mold.  The sooner this is over, the better.  I just thank heaven that I never actually contracted Covid.

You must have better anti-depressants than I do. I've been on about 20 different things by now, and almost all of them have made me gain weight.

a lot of people feel that the kind of isolation we were in intensifies the pain of personal trauma.  the pandemic really is to blame at least in part.  i hope it helps a little to know you're not alone

Lost 30 pounds, gained it back.  Lost my mind, havent found it yet.
