I believe the 1/6 commission is going to issue a report by mid summer outlining criminal acts with footnotes from records and testimony even if the main criminals fail to appear to give their made up side.

Actually, I'm with you on this.  The interesting part will be which members of congress are exposed.

Er, mentioned.

Using the one left at the Capitol Building WOULD be fiscally responsible, so Republicans should be on-board with that.

The last five years of investigations has been "under the radar". Since 2016 people have slobbered over garbage from Mensch, Taylor, Garland, Palmer Report, or any other of those social media darlings, who claim to have knowledge of the inner workings of grand juries or various DOJ investigations, who were ready to pounce and take down the conservative wing as a whole, starting with that last corrupt, twice-impeached, asshole President.

They're always "almost there", and when it doesn't come to fruition they move to another carrot and tell everyone "soon". What does that remind you of?

The right absolutely deserves to eat a bag of rancid, shriveled dicks for their obfuscation, corruption and absolute loyalty to a fraudulent, gluttonous, morally bankrupt family of vile assholes, but holy shiat people. Get a grip.

Would it be smart to have a Bannon trial in the near future? The media circus? To what, get him on contempt?
Small potatoes, he'll get his.
He's not a key piece to the puzzle. Just an annoyance. Pretty obvious what his views were, he had no power to do anything on Jan 6, he was just yelling and wearing the Trump badge.

I actually sort of take this seriously simply because of just how little has leaked out of the committee. And with the 2 Republicans acting in good faith it seems.  Which to me says its not a political witch hunt.  And the memo that was released yesterday calling multiple military witnesses liars says that things are getting interesting.

What would you have them do that they're not doing? Bearing in mind that we up in the peanut gallery seats seats are not privy to the internal deliberations or the scope of actions taken by congressional investigators, grand juries or the Justice Department.

And please no rant about inherent contempt. We've been over that enough times in the last year. If they *actually* tried to do that, that would be the bat signal that they have nothing but posturing.

Tbe Commission doesn't need his testimony to proceed.

He's not a key witness or anything. He isn't privvy to any special information. Whatever he knows -- they already knows.

I'd be surprised if Trump ever goes to prison.  I would be surprised if large numbers of government officials and political appointees who went along with his plan did not go to prison.  There is hesitation about putting a former president in prison, though I think it is totally reasonable to send crooked presidents to prison, just like you do with crooked governors.  However, I think one reason nothing is ever done to former presidents who broke the law, is because you can really hamstring and limit their capacity to do so, if their underlings realize they will go to prison.

I would like to see a constitutional amendment where a sitting president can not pardon anyone for crimes committed working for him, with the caveat that presidents can pardon such officials from past administrations.  I would also like to see an amendment that created a separate election for the office of Attorney General, held in the midterms, with the power given to the AG to go after a crooked president, just like they currently can go after crooked members of congress and judges.

Maybe he is hoping that they will offer him immunity in exchange for throwing everyone else under the bus in some insane over the top reveal with evidence to back it up?  Only to reveal it was him ala Oliver North?

Can you imagine the insanity if Trump went to jail for engaging in criminal behavior?  His cult would lose their mind.  The only way he goes to jail is if the law applied equally to all of us.  And its clear thats not true.

Show trial with a slap on the wrist for the worst offenders who will go on to be pardoned by next Republican president and be gainfully employed at one of the party's many propaganda outlets, earning far more money most of us will ever see. Best hope is when they call that constitutional convention and push for the remaining blue states to leave the union, then maybe we can improve things while red states choke to death on their own incompetence and disease.

3). A very strong, critical report will detail who did what, with absolute certainty.  And nothing will be done with that information.

These investigations - people go to jail, and what happened sometimes gets at least partly exposed, yet somehow the ringleaders are not held responsible and the big crimes go unpunished. I remember we sent a few people to jail for torturing people in Iraq, but the people who designed the torture regime, the lawyer who wrote the defense of it, the people who worked "black sites" and Guantanamo bay - none of them received anything less than honors for it. But a couple low level servicemen and women who took pictures of their dirty deeds got in trouble.

Well, some low level idiots who participated in the Jan 6th coup attempt have gone to jail, and maybe a couple middle size fish will be hauled in. But for the real big fish? Strictly catch and release. They'll get called in for hearings and walk away with book deals. Maybe even positions at elite universities.

You know what..I think the DOJ shouldn't wait to file criminal charges..Let these dipshats that got this
going fight the charges..The committee plodding along, as they do, isn't making the case better, it's making
the problem of getting justice done worse..Either do this, quickly, and get the people in a courtroom
in front of an actual judge, or forget the whole farking thing..But stop jerking yourselves off with power
there committee people..Your commiitee isn't the last word, it's not judge and jury..It's just fact gathering.
How about letting the DOJ do the investigating and charging and come to you if they need you??

That will probably be the case. Democrats are far too timid compared to the right wing. We always seem to bring a knife to a gun fight.

I really REALLY wish we could elect a much more bloody-minded president. Someone who came into office thoroughly pissed off and stayed that way for four years. Someone not concerned about "working across the aisle." Someone who would be willing to declare Trumpers a terrorist conspiracy, and do it with an evil smile. From what I've seen of him, I'm thinking someone like John Fetterman.

The Democratic Party slogan, on a nationwide basis, needs to be "NO MORE MISTER NICE GUY."

The playbook needs to start with "Hit 'em first, hit 'em hard, and kick 'em while they're down."

I completely agree.  Especially since TFG proved exactly WHY that system is so flawed.

Our Federal legal people spent years and $millions$ putting people behind bars for Federal crimes that stopped only just short of treason, only to have TFG just pardon them.

No one should have been able to do that.  Especially not the very person that was responsible for their illegal activity to start with.

TFG literally gave them orders that broke Federal law, and then pardoned them when they were convicted for it.

That system has now shown itself to be not just broken, but furiously mangled beyond repair.  It's long past time to scrap it.
