Straight up illustration of Plato's metaphor of shadows in the analogy of the cave.

That kitten is a genius.  Expect big things.

That kitten can see into the shadow realm, be thankful it neutralized the threat.

My dog once stalked and attacked the shadow of a possum that was moving along the top of a fence on the other side of the alley.

I swear I could hear that pointy-faced little farker laughing at my poor, dumb dog.

My dog loves chasing laser pointer spots. But she also know where they come from, so when she she's done she "catches" it by biting the laser pointer device itself. : D

I feel sad for those kittens.  People should have never kept breeding that trait.  Horrible arthritis when they are older.  They are cute as hell, but will suffer because of stupid humans.

I know someone whose older Munchkin came from a shelter, poor little guy. Her cats are criminally adorable.

At least people no longer breed 2 tailless Manx together. Generations of kittens with major spinal deformities finally got the attention of stupid humans. The lack of a tail is a natural mutation and recessive. If a "rumpy" Manx is bred to a full tail Manx there is a good chance there will still be a couple of rumpy's in the litter, but they will be healthy.

Just because a mutation is natural it doesn't mean it should be deliberately sought after and perpetuated.
