Our state government is just SO terrible these days.

They also want to put the control of the St. Louis cops back in the state's hands. Small government indeed.

This is how schools stand up to evil dictators.

The San Antonio Independent School District decided today to restart  mask/vaccine mandates tomorrow.

They find that when  the 5th Circuit stops mandates for "other" groups, that doesn't apply to them.

I find it very ironic that this jack ass and Hawley both went to Jesuit high schools where they SHOULD have learned something about, oh, I don't know, caring about other people, or at least some quality science.

Or at the very least, how to fake compassion.

I find it ironic that I watched the entire run of Boardwalk Empire and all its HBO boobies. But all I want to do is, in the middle of any conversation, remind people that we often get to see a completely visible naked grunting 55 year old Steve Buscemi orgasm on top of a hard-to-see Meg Steedle. Some of us are just weird menaces.

Right there with you. Red states are all competing on avoidable deaths. If it's any comfort, we almost have a perfect map of terrible COVID responses just from election results.

/Not mobile enough to benefit from that, but I'm sure it makes the research faster for anyone looking to bounce.

Isn't this the same guy who commissioned a study trying to prove that masks were at best useless, and then buried and concealed it when it confirmed that masks are in fact very helpful in reducing virus transmission?

During the My Pillow guys 96 hour crack-a-thon he happened to mention that he's met with the Missouri AG multiple times about his overturn the election scheme. Maybe someone should look into that too.

Same State for sure.

I'm intrigued by how a county circuit judge gets dictatorial power over an entire state.  Not the state supreme court, or even an appellate court, a single county judge.

This is the same party that believes women shouldn't have control of their own reproductive organs, and they want to make sure they kill the maximum number of Americans using a virus that simple control measures can contain.

This is all because he has a special needs son and his (too old to be a) trophy wife works in a school

He can kill them both off and find a hot new model and a son that can get into a fancy private prep school.

ColonelCathcart:

...

We do disagree. Not because I am callous, but because I don't think we should shut down over this. Life of 300,000,000 cannot stop for 700 people. Period. No matter which people. that's not fair to the rest of us.

Maybe there is a point we are able to agree on. I don't think we should shut down. The US and other countries tried that, COVID still spread. However, I don't think that asking a person to wear a mask is the same as shutting down. I can't read this article in particular so I don't know what measures the school districts have in place, but having a school district tell kids to wear masks is not unreasonable, in my opinion.

Masks alone? Not unreasonable. During PE and Basketball? Please. Now there's a vector.

How about after school? When the kids hang out?

At best, this is virtue signaling.

At worst, this is tons of garbage littering our streets and oceans for nothing.

I would just be happy if every kid wore a mask in a non-physical type class, and some attempt was made to limit the amount close interactions during a physical education type course. As for hanging out after school, there is no way to enforce a rule there. I've always been of the opinion that if you have no way to enforce a rule, you probably shouldn't have it.  There has to be some sort of medium between wearing a mask immediately as you leave the confines of your room and not wearing a mask at all, ever. I don't know though, I'm not an epidemiologist and can't say if this would even help.

Small enough to fit in a woman's uterus.

Other than that, this a$$hole can burn in hell. This is all no big deal, until it's YOUR kid that is killed by bio-terrorist Rethuglican politics.

mattj1984: Yeah. And one of those kids that died of Covid was in Washington MO asshat. It happens. And it needs to be mitigated.

Mid mo here. Masks are currently still on in our district. We've had some loud locals biatch for months now but our school board president has warned that the district can't afford an uptick in displaced staff over what is already out. Low supply of subs and an uptick in staff absence will slam education again. -> back to virtual only.

With that recent ruling. Our local school board finally decided to drop masks when school returns from xmas break. (ages 5-17 fully vaxxed is sitting at 9.9% here lol). Looks like the slow burn should continue to hold/grow going into xmas festivities before school starts up again next year mask (optional). Between covid and the flu I don't think we'll make it out of Jan before it's forced virtual in my town. Curious to see what my kids' peers will do with masks. I have one in Jr High and one in HS, both pro mask but I don't have much hope that the other kids in class will wear a mask.

I also know someone that works at the health dept. She says they'll no longer be able to tell positives to quarantine. So that should make for some extra fun.

Well, Kansas City shouldn't be the only city in the entire nation without local control of its police department.

I'm entirely in favor of ensuring that the cognitively disabled have access to meaningful employment, I just don't agree with the Republican Party's implementation of this concept.

Commander Lysdexic:No rational ones anyway.

It was ColonelCathcart who insisted on 13 November 2020: "COVID is not a lifelong thing for 99%, This will be over in 6-12 mths."

His opinion on this matter is safely ignored.

Well, the voters in your state chose for it to be that way.
Help them learn to make better decisions.
