Yeah, bad idea. Guess it's there to enforce bad habits while using "autopilot." This might change once these cars can truly drive without intervention. Most likely the car has an accelerometer, so the games can be locked out during movement.

Also, would they even dare have this on a commercial jet?

I wouldn't call them bogus. Some of the Tech they are using is serious next gen. Like their engine is almost 5 years ahead of competitors.

However some of their ideas are dumb as fark. Like this one.

Pretty sure this is literally illegal, along with being an incredibly bad idea.

I remember when the Tesla's came out. My friend, who's a big car guy went out and got one.

He was showing it off to us when he got it.

First thing I noticed is when he walked up to it, the doors automatically unlocked.

(click)

he opens the door...

I asked, so what happens if the batteries die in your fob? How are you going to get into your car?

his reply..."just look at the center control panel. It's the size of my Ipad!"

I was not impressed.

the one thing I was impressed about was that the breaking system.

"see, since the car doesn't have a gasoline engine the brakesin these cars don't have to work so hard to stop the car"

Two points of order.
1. They don't have engines, they have motors.
2. Clock's ticking and while Tesla is innovating garbage like this, other companies are muscling in with better range, faster charge times, lighter batteries, better power, better active control, and better AI.

But yeah.  Musk is bogus.  But Tesla is merely overrated.

What a great idea.

On a long ferry boat ride or Chunnel trip, sitting in a "moving" car can be boring.  How is an animated internet ad with invideo purchases, any different from a video game?

If the behavior is dangerous enough, it will become part of the GOP platform to oppose banning it.

Most of the games are only accessible while parked. Some of the games like solitaire are still accessible while moving "if" you click "I am a passenger".
I know my car (not tesla), only lets one click "I am a passenger" when it comes to manually entering a nav address while driving, If there is weight detected on the passenger seat.  I don't know if Tesla has this same restriction, it doesn't appear to, but maybe.

I don't know about Tesla but other cars have passive RFID and physical keys as a backup in case the fob battery dies. They also pop up a low-battery warning on the dashboard to give you plenty of advance notice that you need to replace it.

It's not pedantic.  It's kind of an important concept to understand when talking about this technology.  You can either learn to use the right words now, or you can keep looking ignorant moving forward.  If *you* don't care about that, well, go off, king.

I honestly have no idea what you are confused by.

You're gonna have to explain what you *thought* I meant, because I said exactly what I meant as concisely as I could.  If more words help, here ya go:Tesla is overrated.  Musk is bogus.  My opinion of both is low, but my opinion of Musk is lower.  My low opinion of Tesla is mostly related to the insane fanboi-ism that this rather pedestrian company seems to breed.  All Tesla did was to successfully sell enough purely electric vehicles to enough early adopters to help drive the installation of enough charging stations to make EVs viable for the rest of us.  And any goodwill related to that  goes right out the window when Tesla makes it's charging technology proprietary.

Tesla makes some very fine cars but the traditional automakers are catching up to them and offering products that will appeal to wider audiences (the F-150 Lightning for example or the Mach-E) or provide alternatives that are enticing (Polestar 2, Porche Taycan EV) or provide EVs under $40k (Maxda MX-30, Hyundai Ioniq, Hyundai Kona) or even under $30k (Nissan Leaf) while Tesla doesn't have anything under $45k (the cheapest Model 3 is $46,490 but they hide the price).

Tesla doesn't have autonomous vehicles. They use L2 autonomy which is just advanced cruise control and requires an attentive driver. Their vehicles can't be fully autonomous.

However, other companies do it just fine. I see May Mobility autonomous vehicles in Ann Arbor and Detroit and they get around just fine and have been for years. GM's Cuise program and Google's Waymo program have autonomous vehicles on actual streets now.

The difference is Musk refuses to use LIDAR while the actual L4 autonomous vehicles all use it.

What a weird pivot to try to much up the thread with something off topic but to answer your question -

If you're trying to make a technical assessment, sure. You shouldn't say "An AR-15's clip is 5 years more advanced than an AK-47s". But if you are making a legal argument, no need. If you say "No guns should have a clip that holds more than 5 bullets" then that's fine. Same here. If you're making an assessment of the technology, understanding the basic meaning of the words "engine" and "motor" and how they're used in the industry is important. If you're just saying "It's awesome that a Tesla's so fast. Their engines are awesome!" then meh, go ahead.

False comparison. My comparison was completely cromulent and you know it. As an example a pistol grip on a shotgun does nothing to make the weapon deadlier, simply easier to hold and aim for older people, yet it's classified as an "assault" feature and banned in many places. The nomenclature of an AR being an "assault" rifle is horseshiat as well. M-16 yes. Is it capable of burst or auto fire? Then it's an assault rifle. If not, it is no such thing.
