"this is what people say to me, that [Fauci] doesn't represent science to them. He represents Josef Mengele, Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps."

I have no doubt that MAGAs are saying exactly that to any sympathetic journalist that will listen, so maybe the problem isn't Lara Logan's reporting as much as it's the average MAGA.

That so much physical attractiveness could be squandered on a person so utterly loathsome is proof there is no god.

Logan isn't a journalist. She lost that title after she manufactured a fake report on the Benghazi attack in order to attack Obama.

Here is a curious fact about most shows that deliver "news" and information to the public.  It used to be that before anyone would come out and say something on the air, they would have to run it by the editor.  That editor person would determine if what the person was going to say was accurate, truthful, and free of liability to the company.

It seems pretty glaringly obvious that Fox has no such person.  They have no problem with letting people come on the air and saying whatever the fark they want.  And then, only if there is public backlash, do they remove that person and say, "Pfft.  Not our fault.  They said it!  It doesn't mean we think that way!"

And here's the thing.  YES.  Yes it DOES mean that is how they feel.  They have found a convenient loophole in the system.  But in the end, they are ultimately responsible for what goes across their broadcast.

And as such, it's time to start holding them accountable.  Long past time.

On her Twitter account, she promoted even more false claims, saying that AIDS is not linked to HIV at all and that research on HIV/AIDS drugs is an elaborate conspiracy to make money and cause additional suffering.

Doubling down wasn't enough for her. She bravely quadrupled down to show her commitment to being cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Isn't Fox a defendant in one or more Dominion suits?

If so, it will take a while, but that could be the awful reckoning they have coming to them.

She really wasn't. Even before the Egypt assault she was known for bending the truth in her reporting and taking unnecessary risk. She was secretly known as being a nutter. This was the path that she was always headed down.

Yup, and that's the issue, from a journalistic integrity perspective.

It is technically correct to say that someone said (insert idiotic claptrap here). But a news reporter should be able to identify who is saying that thing (a generic "people say" or "word on the street is..." fails this). In addition, context needs to be given about what the statement says and the circumstances in which it was said.

So for the example in question, a way to report it with some degree of integrity would be:

"An individual who refused to identify himself, save by his homemade swastika armband and 'MAGA' hat, made the unsubstantiated claim that [Fauci] doesn't represent science to them. He represents Josef Mengele, Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps. There was absolutely no rational reason given for this comparison, and Mr. John Smith, a person who demonstrated cognitive brain function, responded by saying 'I have no idea where that fascist trump-supporting prick got this from, or why you would put his bullshiat on the air, but it's the most idiotic thing I've heard since the last time TFG opened his disgusting shiathole of a mouth.'  We tried reaching out to Dr. Fauci for a rebuttal, but his office simply said that they had grown up work to do and don't respond to idiots."

Leni Riefenstahl wannabes kinda count. Laura was really hoping for her own place at the table, but sadly, she is aging out of that, and getting more and more bitter about it. Maybe it's not the Lara or Laura, but the L in the front of a woman's name* that makes them kooky.

*Yes, my ex-wife's name starts with an L for anecdotal evidence.

This is a very common thing for far-right people to say.

Ever since the whole COVID-19 pandemic started, they've compared any sort of preventative measures in some sort of Nazi-related terms. Usually to concentration/death camps and the Holocaust.

And they show "confusion" about why people are so angry at their comparison, then it's the feigned "remorse" and a weasel word apology that talks about their "ignorance" about how they really never understood how using such terms "might be seen as offensive" and it was never their "intent" to be "hurtful." But it was all "free speech" and all about the "erosion of personal freedom" because getting a vaccine or wearing a mask is some sort of violation of their Constitutional rights.

Because in their tiny minds, the systematic killing of 6 million Jews and with millions of other victims including prisoners of war, Roma, the mentally and physically disabled, and others the Nazis considered not even human is equivalent to wearing a mask to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

For people who claim to Constitutional scholars and who recite litanies about historical events to show how smart they are, they're all really f*cking idiots who use a Wizard of Oz facade.

"Wearing a mask is exactly like the unspeakable atrocities of the Holocaust. Also, the Holocaust wasn't actually that big of a deal and Jews are overreacting."

And we just let them say both halves of those things over and over. It's insane.

There is actually a Noble Lauret in Chemistry who claimed it too. Kary Mullis, who coinvented PCR. Even smart people fall victim to woo. Another one is Noble Lauret in Chemistry Linus Pauling was a complete nut on mega dose Vitamin C as a cure all. He fired the director of his lab investigating it when the lab couldn't prove him right.

Nothing unusual in this.

Fox News hosts frequently take two week, unannounced vacations after saying something outrageously stupid.
