I'd like to stop drinking for two days and play a game of "Operation" with him. I think it'd be an even match.

It's just comforting to know that if things ever go bad for him, he'll always have a job waiting for him at the Home Depot paint counter.

Watched The Frighteners again recently and gave myself a sad. Talented and by all accounts a decent human being.

MJF has said fark Parkinsons for so long we won't know what to do with ourselves when it finally gets him.

/ And just like cancer
// fark it
/// Cheers for life well lived

While I have thought MJF has been great since Family Ties, it's nice to have money.  Having money allows you to make your life much less complex with diseases like this.  Also, see Magic Johnson, who's johnson got him into trouble.

he is a talented, and by a lot of accounts, decent guy.  humor is a coping mechanisn for this tragedy.

/cause that's all we got for him

I think the difference may be that we're not laughing at him.  none of the humor (up to your post) diminishes his talent or speaks badly of him as a person.

and in tfa, he actually agrees with you (about himself), that's what keeps him pushing forward.

and if I remember correctly, he uses his celebrity, time, effort, and money to assist others with Parkinson's who don't have those advantages.

We all love him. I don't think I've ever met anyone who had a bad thing to say about MJF...

Life is a cruel b*tch sometimes. I think he has an absolutely amazing wife and kids and that makes it a tiny bit easier for him. Wish him nothing but the best.

Isn't there a working theory that the parkinsons was caused by dopamine depletion from long-term cocaine use? Certainly wouldn't wish him ill by any means, but if that's the case it would be a bit of an "actions have consequences" issue

And by "working theory", we mean having factual support that we can cite?

I suppose that long-term cocaine use could be a trigger for Parkinsons, but I know a number of folks that never touched it, yet have Parkinsons, and we probably have a number of long-term cocaine users that don't seem to suffer from Parkinsons.

And by users, I mean humans, so I won't use Keith Richards as an example of anything but evidence of universal mysteries.

Are you suggesting that all of the people who have Parkinson's, including my aunt - a retired nun - are long term cocaine addicts?

Did that make sense in your head when you typed it out? I'm curious.
