That's what I liked about House of a bunch of corpses. It cut and pastes TCSM, but makes the teens annoying and the killer family, somehow, victims of their own lifestyle.

On the one hand, the franchise ran out of gas 30 years ago.

On the other hand, watching Austin hipsters get hacked up with a chainsaw might be amusing.

Wobambo: Boooo. TCM was always kind of lame and the last remotely interesting take was in 1986. Set the whole thing in Alaska and turn Leatherface into a hunter/killer that uses all parts of the animal. Same basic story, but now something that hasn't been mined dry.

That kind of conflicts with the whole "Texas" part of the title.

The one with Jessica Beal and R. Lee Ermey, i thought was pretty good.... Substantially better than the Friday the 13th, Freddy Krueger, and Poltergeist reboots done in the last 15 years.

The last TCM-related film I saw was the one with Alexandra Daddario, who is revealed to be related to a somewhat sympathetic Leatherface, setting up her immortal line "Go get 'em, cuz!"

We're going to keep remaking Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequels that ignore all the other sequels until you go see one, dammit!

I've seen every single TCM, most more than once.

I'm not bragging about this, it's just one of those things.

I've seen all but one or two of the TCM movies. Two mistakes most of them make is they put Leatherface front and center and they also make a fetish item out of the chainsaw.

I think part of what makes the original one work so well is that Leatherface isn't the most deranged one. He isn't especially dangerous either. Yes he kills people but in the first one they come to him, he's a homebody. Don't trespass and you'll never encounter him.

What winds up happening when they focus the movie on him is everything else gets little care put into it. The supporting characters fade into the background. Then by emphasizing the chainsaw they need to write scenes that make the chainsaw more important and they ironically make the chainsaw less impressive. Imagine Jaws but with the shark appearing every 10 minutes. That shark would be scary at first, then just good for some excitement, then it would end up boring.
