"Our players have worked tirelessly to get to this point. I know that they'll be brave, even in the adversity that we're facing right now,"

What a load of horaeshiat all around. If they worked tirelessly they would have done everything reasonable to avoid this happening, including training their immune systems.  If they were brave, they would have taken the vaccine rather than taken the cowardly route. And it's not adversity, else we'd be devaluing the term for people that actually face adversity.

95% of the league is vaccinated. There's been no information (that I can find) as to how many of the 11 actually popped a test, but According to Major League Soccer, a player may be listed as "questionable" or "out" for testing positive for COVID-19, having an inconclusive test result, having a pending test result, quarantining for engaging in high-risk behavior or being a high-risk close contact or having another illness unrelated to COVID-19.

So if there was a close contact training session or video in a tiny room, and one person pops (either being that 5% unvaccinated or a breakthrough case), then the protocols could consider that a "high-risk close contact" and boom. MLS doesn't have a clause like the NBA where players can take two tests 24 hours apart, within 48 hours of a game, to get off the protocols and play (LeBron). But I imagine that's a discussion happening right now with MLS and MLSPA.

That being said, the Union reserves are putting up quite a decent showing. Wonder if they'll be able to maintain it in the second half.

If they didn't go down to Covid, they would've gone down to an unexpected breeze or an errant blade of grass

This situation has gotten me to actually watch MLS. 1-0 Philly in the 63m.

And just like that it's 1-1 65m.

It's been a pretty good game. NYC has possession, but Philly is keeping most of that possession to just recycling the ball in the back.

And NYC FC goes ahead in the 88th.

2-1 NYC FC FT. I have to say it was a pretty entertaining game.
