It's almost like punting exists for a reason.

FTFA: Throughout the entire season, his team finished No. 1 in the nation in passing and...

John Heisman punished one of His wayward children, good. It is not a pleasant business, but let it serve as a warning to those who willingly pick up the tools of a godless communist.

Yeah.

If they punted and actually kicked off, they would have a winning record and probably would be top of their division. Always leaving your defense with a short field to defend is not a recipe for success

Yes, the team that doesn't offer scholarships and has never been good would've become amazing, if only they'd punted more.

Local high school hired a guy that tried that. The thing about an onside kick is mostly the element of surprise. If you know it's coming, it's easy to cover the ball and start at midfield. And going for it on 4th and 8 from your own 15-yard-line is just stupid.

Conceptually, always going for it on 4th down with a reasonable yardage makes sense ( 4th and 3? 4?)). But 4th and 15? Just lick your wounds and punt the ball.

Unless there's some rule at the college level that makes onside kicks easier to recover, always onside kicking where you have a 50% chances of recovering it, always onside kicking is pretty asinine.

Huskers are in the lookout for an offensive coordinator.

/They also need a special teams coach but I don't think he has the experience.

I appreciate the aggressiveness but he took it too far. I hate midfield punts, kicking a FG from the 2, ect. but this is just stupid. And obviously there are good circumstances for my above examples.

Uhhh, they had that the top passing game in FCS and the 3rd rank offence, so they had no problem scoring. They had a problem stopping teams from scoring, and letting a team start their offensive possession inside the 50 doesn't help.

Perhaps they wouldn't have scored so much had they not been going for it on all these fourth downs.

Also, if you'd (or anyone else had) read the article, you'd have seen that he did punt/kick on occasion, because obviously going for it EVERY time is stupid.

They had a highly-ranked offense because they TORCHED the NAIA schools they played. This was their first year even in Div. 1 and they weren't even a good Div. 2 school at football.

TFA: And based on the school's statement regarding the resignation, he was not fired and it came as a surprise.

Sounds like subby punted reading comprehension.
