There's some great radio shows as well.

Like The Unbelievable Truth, where comedians give a talk on a subject that is all lies except for five true facts which the others must spot.

QI has been a fav of mine on Youtube and other sites.

8 out of 10 cats and Mock the Week and probably Have I got news for you, I can now watch on Britbox on my computer and Roku TV.

Would I lie to you? I have not begun to watch.

And British Radio is great.

Even some Tories have a sense of humour in the UK. How is that possible? They must be real Tories and not Con-servatives. David Mitchell and sometimes eve Jeremy Clarkson are very funny despite being Tories if you can avoid them on Tory Shibboleths like climate change or the Left.

Bookmarking this thread is a very good idea because there must be more great TV and Radio--the UK is the biggest producer in the world, even more varied and clever than US/Canadian TV.

What you have discovered are "variety shows". Internationally, they are quite common. Low production values, but great comedy content. For some reason the US does the opposite, over-produceding  to hide poor content.

I can't say for sure that Mitchell isn't a Tory. He's definitely from a privileged background, but playing up his poshness is part of his shtick, particularly on WILTY where he's up against Lee Mack. Here's a bit on climate change he did that specifically calls out Clarkson:

I think, mostly, he just despises stupidity, so that would tend to suggest he's not keen on Tories in general.

Oh, the international Taskmasters are supposed to be decent, too, particularly TM NZ.

I haven't watched them myself, but the word on the Spanish and American versions is that they should be avoided. I think Croatian TM recently started, and TM Portugal is coming soon.

Taskmaster New Zealand season 2 is a gem, and if you don't mind subtitles TM Norway ('Kongen Befaler') will give you more of the goodness you crave.

Dave tried to fill the void of Taskmaster in its schedule with Outsiders (hosted by David Mitchell). It's a mediocre format (comedians sort of go outdoors) but you'll recognise the faces and the interplay between the paired participants is wonderful even as they do not much of consequence.

Question Team (host: Ayoade, R.) is near the end of its first season and is definitely also worth a look. Each contestant has to contribute their own round of questions to the show in their own format.

Taskmaster is definitely one of my favourites.  The latest series with Alan Davies, Victoria Coren-Mitchell, Morgana  Robinson, Desiree Burch (sic?) and Guz Khan in particular was excellent.  One or two of the series were a bit flat - it very much depends on the dynamic of the group.

QI is often excellent and great for turning you into a pub bore with snippets of useless trivia.

Rusty Shackleford: And Never Mind the Buzzcocks' best vintage is when Simon Amstell was host.

I thought Mark Lamarr was the best. He balanced solid pisstaking of guests with a love of music that seemed to bring in good guests and keep them. Amstel was cruel and vicious, which is his schtick, and chased guests away.

Can't think of any that haven't been mentioned already.

Cats (both varieties), QI, Big Fat Quiz, HIGNFY

It can be a bit tricky to follow any of them on youtube because they occasionally get purged and eventually reuploaded. Excepting Taskmaster because it's awesome and puts itself on youtube. (The podcast is also very worth it if you're a fan of the show)

Outsiders was OK, but not great. The funniest thing about it was probably what became Jess Knappet's catchphrase, an exasperated "Jamaaali!"

I don't think I've seen mentions of Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Mel Giedroyc's Unforgivable or Acaster and Widdecombe's Hypothetical.

I saw a taping of the show a couple of years ago (O Series, "Overseas" for those who are scoring at home), and Sandi did a 5-minute warmup that was very funny and profane. She has made the show her own, which is no easy task following an icon like Fry.

Oh, the thought never crossed my mind until now because I don't do a lot of online video watching, so can't personally vouch for it, but I've heard good things about No More Jockeys. It's a game that Tim Key, Mark Watson and LAH play over Zoom. The basic concept is that each player has to name a person in a particular category, but can then say "no more x", x being that category.

/They initially called their game No More Women, but I can understand why they chose to change it.
