This from the article caught my eye: "and a mandatory two years for aggravated identity theft."

Aggravated identity theft is not just falsely claiming you own the rights to some creative work. It's using someone else's identity to commit a crime. So it's not just falsely stating, "I own the rights to the White Album, pay me." It's "I own the rights to the White Album and here is proof that I am Paul McCartney, pay me." It's taking shiattiness to a whole new level.

You pissed off the ownership class, you tried to steal their lunch money, you get punished.

Of course the penalties for this aren't nearly as extreme as some of the music piracy cases.
