Some Junkie Cosmonaut: foo monkey: Alwysadydrmr: Do cats like peanut butter? Never had one so I genuinely don't know.

Probably not.  It's plant-based and cats can't taste sweet.  If a cat did like it, I'd chalk it up to that cat being weird.  Except all cats are weird, so there you go.

Many do like it - it's pretty much fat and salt when you get down to it.  About 50/50 in my personal experience.  Used to be the only way we could give one of our cats meds - she was entirely uninterested in cheese, and it was pretty hard to get a pill into meat or cat food well enough she wouldn't find it and spit it out.  Peanut butter?  She was totally fine with it - just spent 5 straight minutes at the water dish afterward

A friend of mine used to use cream-cheese/crab dip as her bait for getting her dogs to eat pills, the stank completely masked the flavor of any pills.  I find that cream cheese usually works pretty well because it sticks to pills and the dog or cat will actually swallow the pill because they keep licking trying to get the last of the cream cheese.

Last time my dog went in for vaccines, they had to use the reversible anesthesia.

Except he never actually went to sleep.

Once he was under general anesthesia for a dental, and he kept pulling his paw away from the tech who was trying to clip his nails.

He's an edge case, I know.

He's not the only one - some people still have versions of reflexes when they're out.  Scared a surgery team once apparently when they bonked my bad knee while I was under full general and I jerked back and made noises

/hurt worse than the actual surgery location when I woke up
//not a lot, had a ton of Dilaudid in me
///but I could feel it more than where they'd actually been doing shiat

I had an epidural for an ACL (knee) ligament replacement.  I was still able to wiggle my toes on the surgical side, but I couldn't feel any of the surgery :-)

Good epidural right there, someone knew what they were about

My cat loves peanut butter, all sorts of nuts, crackers, salty snacks.

Yes she's weird.

The other day we caught her huffing the mist from the humidifier.

Roomie's cat, the Boo Cat, loves the understandable:

butter, because fat
chicken, because meat
cream, because fat
bones, because meat

the understandable given her early life history as a kitten living under a dumpster behind a fastfood joint:

french fries
pizza
cheeseburgers

and the baffling:

popcorn
mild stewed tomatoes, especially from mild chili or soup
sometimes broccoli

Cats are weird. Boo Cat is especially weird.

I meant it more as a percentage thing.  Like, maybe 10% of cats would eat peanut butter and that's just one way those particular cats are weird.

I had a cat I could vacuum.  He loved two things:  being brushed and me, because I brushed him.  One day I decided to vacuum him.  He'll like that, right?  Held him down for a second (abusing his trust), turned on the vacuum, and started using the upholstery attachment on him.  I regained his trust and from that time on, every time he heard the vacuum, he'd come running.

This guy is amazing, but it's now not recommended to give shots at the scruff because of the  potential for cancer at the injection site. Instead, they're supposed to be given in the leg (and some vets even do the tail) because if all goes bad, you can amputate a leg or a tail, not so much if the cancer is right behind their neck.

Also, my Bengal cats LOVE peanutbutter.

Axeofjudgement: I guess the American way could be give em a whopper and inject em?

Then again been to enough vets where I hold and love the dog and the whammy goes into the leg. And yup. Pup does not like that. Pups always go out and get food after that. (Last time was in Texas. And the wolf hybrid got her own breakfast tacos.... good girl. Don't kill me when you get older)

I knew a wolf-dog hybrid.  Sometimes we'd howl together.  Do you howl with yours?
