Mark my words.  This kid feels entitled and is toxic.  He will never be happy or a team player wherever he goes.

/Longhorns - Stay the hell away from this - You don't need any more drama

Why don't we just declare that college football is legally the minor leagues for the NFL, and be done with it.

Farking college coaches flying around in school-provided multimillion dollar helicopters, $150,000,000 college stadiums, massive TV broadcast contracts, and so on are not even remotely related to funding education for the larger institution. If the revenue streams college football actually did go toward offsetting education costs, then every major college would have tuitions that are a fraction of what they are now.

It's an industry unto itself, and nothing more.

George played in the NFL about 5xs longer than Tebow. Quinn crashing and burning like Tebow when facing professionals is just more likely to me. Have to see if quim even makes it to the NFL for a snap 1st.

"We didn't ask for this situation, but it's upon us," Curtis Ewers, Quinn's father, told Yahoo Sports this past summer. "It's our reality. We don't want Quinn to be a martyr here for everyone who comes behind him.

A martyr.  Jesus wept.

When I worked at clemson, it did go forward to the academic departments. The library got a percentage of the gate from every athletic game played. There are rules about that in the NCAA. Is it a huge percentage? No. But I do know the year I was there, when PPV was really taking off, we had an unexpected windfall of $2 million just to the library from PPV money.

I can see that point. I have meet a number of players that played in the NFL and  most have their sense of entitlement  started back in HS. An exception was Walter Payton, meet him a few times with the 1st at end of basic training, his nephew was in my flight and he brought a big dinner spread and ate,sat and talked to everyone. I think I still have a signed poster somewhere in my parents basement.

He used OSU to get NIL money. He reclassified and "graduated" HS so he could get a $million NIL contract and not have to worry about those pesky HS football rules. Writing was on the wall for this one when he came in early.  He could have graduated on time and sat the bench at OSU for a year and then started.

No way in hell he was going to play this year.  Oh well, see ya. Kid does have a good arm though.

I don't know this kid from Adam, but on the surface it looks like he used the Buckeyes to get what he wanted (early enrollment and endorsement cash that it allowed), and he is now ready to actually pursue his collegiate career.

Did he have earning potential as a high school senior? Absolutely. Are people upset at him because he left high school a year early to go to college, which is actually more common outside of sports? No.

The fact is he believed that as a 17-year-old, he was the best quarterback that the team had. That is the entitlement that he had. He and his family are upset at the fact that he didn't start the season.  He didn't pay his dues to earn the starting job. That's really it.

It's not like scholarships are guaranteed   And tOSU is still recruiting QBs. I have zero problem with a kid looking to max out his or her opportunities.

I guess not getting the Golden Pants this year made it more difficult, as he could not trade them to a booster for large amounts of cash.

The martyr comment was over the summer regarding Texas law about NIL, had nothing to do with his time at tOSU.

so there are several marketing people getting fired in all of this, right?

congrats to Ewers for striking while the iron is hot and before the market correction when everyone figures out how this actually ought to work.

it's not like college basketball. from the endorser side of things you have 3 years to figure out who's worth the investment. there is literally no need to throw a million dollars at the person you *think* might be the starter

...not with CJ Stroud at QB.  He's gonna be around for two more years at least...that's half the reason why they're losing backups right now.

Anyone over 25 who hasn't figured out that college sports are an abomination hasn't been paying attention. I watch pro sports only - can't stand the corruption and hypocrisy inherent in college athletics.

Well, he did pick to be a QB at a college where a venerable former coach always said, "only three things can happen when you pass (a completion, an incompletion, and an interception) and two of them are bad."

Looks like bad judgment to me.

To be fair, that quote has been attributed to half of all humanity at one point or another. I'm sure a few people have said it but I've seen more than a handful of different supposed originators. Given that much of accepted history is the result of mixing and matching from available sources, in forty years your name is more likely than not to get cited. Hell, Drew might get cited because fragmentary records about it being mentioned on https://www.Fark.com will be discovered.
