(NHL)   TEN - looks at schedule - ten, pretty much 'meh' games on tap today. Things start off at 1pm ET. Then nothing until the 6 that start at 7pm, 1 @ 7:30, 1 @ 8pm, & 1 @ 10pm. Good scheduling dispersal Gary, good scheduling. Maybe there's curling on   (nhl.com) divider line

Leafs/Wild should be a good one.

Hey! An evening game for the Senators. Usually they put them on in the afternoon, so they can give the full network to the Leaftovers at 7 p.m.

Nothing wrong with Blues/Panthers, Leafs/Wild, or Bolts/Bruins today.

Leafs/Wild, Isles/Wings, and remaining screens available for threads or games.  Excellent

I realize the Venn diagram between people who care about both hockey and college football doesn't have a ton of overlap, but this seems like the perfect schedule anticipating conference championship weekend for college football.

/Will watch the first period or so of the wings game before it's Michigan time
//Michigan football trumps all

Include me in the overlap between hockey and college football.

Blues goalie seeing lots of rubber this afternoon.  Shots are currently 47--22 for the Panthers, but the Blues lead 3-2.  Let's go Blues.

Montreal picks up Kale Clague on waivers from LA.

Kings had groomed him to be a offensive defenseman for years but ... reasons.

Figured in the team's lengthy win streak this season. Maybe he figures in Montreal. Good luck with him, Habs fans.

Kings fans on Twitter pissed. I can agree; I'd rather watch a rookie D struggle here and there than a veteran so-passive-he's-tranquility-on-ice Olli Maatta or Matt Roy (AHL stock, at best), as well as a defensive corps that lacks any offensive sense without Drew Doughty or another rookie, Sean Durzi, in the lineup.

It'll be real interesting to see what happens with the young players in Montreal now.  The season is already lost so why not give them all the ice time in the world just to be themselves and see what you really have?

Good in principle, but the pressure in Montreal could also burn them out. There was much to-do this week about Caufield and his development after he was placed on the 4th line without much ice time.

/Anderson out 2-4 weeks and Petry is not travelling either

Leafs without Marner tonight. Simmonds is playing on the line with Matthews and Bunting (for now).

Still waiting for the Leafs first shot on goal.

What's a minimum SOG you guys like to see from your team, 30, 35 ...?

Depends who we're playing.  28-35 is usually a good range

It's not so much the quantity, but the quality. If the team is peppering the opposing goal with long range or bad-angle, low-percentage shots, it doesn't really matter if they get 15 to 18 per period.
However, if they get 5 or 6 really good looks and good chances from in close, I'll take a game total of 25 -- if 5 of them go in.

Thanks, I've been watching for a few years now so I try to learn where I can. It was only recently I learned about how the visiting team puts their guys on ice then home gets to.

Toronto really has problems with teams that like to grind things out.  That's going to need changing.

Especially when they are missing a big piece of the offence. Not having two reliable scoring lines makes it easier to defend against. And a constant parade to the penalty box isn't helping either.

Evening all.  Being her first night off in Dec ... MrsRT wants to watch at least one Christmas movie this evening.  I've managed to negotiate 'No Hallmark or similar ones" so at least there's that.  But not sure how much hockey will be available.  Perhaps the late game with the volume down while listening to Rev. K's radio show.

Do you have access to TCM's library through HBO Max or your cable provider?  They have some quality Christmas films.
