FTFA: "CNBC also has learned that Arlington, Virginia-based Americans for Prosperity, which has over three million volunteers spread across 35 states"

Holy shiat. People VOLUNTEER for a *billionaire* libertarian movement who's only goal is increase wealthy people's wealth. These have got to be even dumber than Trumpers. Without any compensation at all. I guess they don't value their own labor.

No, you volunteer for the billionaires so they'll hire you later as a paid assistant, and you get access to the halls of power! Don't you know anything about being a toadie?

'This week, Tim Phillips announced he was resigning as president of Americans for Prosperity after 15 years at the helm, citing what he called "challenging personal matters." Phillips is said to have had what's described as an extramarital affair with a Virginia-based Republican official, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.'

The party of family values strikes again.  Next up: praying about it, seeking guidance.  Step three: Overcome this personal challenge, accept forgiveness, and focus on the future.  Bonus step: future awkward staged wholesome family PR photos where the wife is trying to suppress a mixture of seething rage and deep hurt.

Right.

Because the DOJ has such a great recent track record of catching these rich farks and prosecuting them.

There is no way 1% of all Americans are active volunteers for ANY organization. Not churches, not the Red Cross, certainly not for a billionaires think tank. My guess is that is the total number of people who have ever responded in any way what so ever over the entire history of the organization.

It's potential good news.  Until the network is destroyed, its donors destitute, and all trace of influence expunged, the Koch machine must be considered dangerous.

FTFA: "The libertarian political advocacy group Americans for Prosperity, which is backed by billionaire industrialist Charles Koch.............."

I really am still trying to figure out the difference between "Libertarian" and "Republican" in ay real political sense, only in a rhetorical one. In elected office I have only seen Libertarian candidates/office holders side with Republicans, never Democrats. Rand Paul is the highest profile national Libertarian, and even in his presidential run he ran as a Republican. Same with Libertarian voters. I don't know a single one who would ever vote Democrat. "Libertarian" pundits are pretty much anti-Democrats; Neal Boortz comes to mind. Even the Libertarian POTUS candidates are former Republicans.

Practically speaking, there isn't any for the ones in national government, and I'd guess that even extends to the state level.  I think the among ones who never get elected as well as voters who identify as such is that you find some libertarians who think Republicans are bad when they try to moralize -- things like gay marriage, anti-abortion, etc.  Those are the libertarians that think anyone can marry anyone because no one should need a contract from the government to tell you you are married, and that if you want an abortion you should be able to get one because why should the government get between you and your doctor.  Etc.  Basically, Republicans without all the stupid culture war BS.  Also probably some go further to say the military should be greatly reduced and serve only the barest of self-defense functions and it shouldn't be used to "liberate" other countries.

They're still living in a fantasy where the free market fights fires and repairs roads, but at least you can get gay abortions while your house burns down and you die of food poisoning.

I laugh whenever libertarians talk of being free to live their own lives, smoking pot, and fishing and hunting where they want, and living off the grid, and no government stealing their money, etc.

I've tried to tell them when you have no government, at BEST, you and your family will be slaves working in company towns, and at WORST, outside of the gilded, barricaded, billionaire's castles, the world you'll be in will look like Cormac McCarthy's "The Road." And you ain't gonna be one of the warlords, you're gonna be livestock for cannibals.

/they always think they'll be the warlords
//every libertarian I know is an out-of-shape coward
///livestock for cannibals
