For some reason this reminds me of Micheal Scott yelling about bankruptcy.

Madison Mayor Rhodes-Conway said in a statement Thursday that the Madison city attorney had reached out to Gableman's office, but that neither Gableman nor his attorneys had responded - "further underscoring the abject lack of professionalism on Gableman's team."

"Attorney Gableman apparently missed the October headlines saying that I was proud of and willing to testify publicly about Madison's handling of the 2020 election," Rhodes-Conway said.

Of course.  Because he has no interest in actually addressing the nonexistent voter fraud claims.  Its all performative bullshiat for the MAGA crowd.

I moved away almost 10 years now. People ask if I will move back. Hell even visiting is like going back 30 years in time now. This week my friend who lives out there said the biggest news story was Covid, the school shooting in Michigan, or even the Packers. No...it was that Kwik Trip was eliminating not being able to pump your gas first and go in to pay. She said people were losing their shiat because "How do you know how much it takes to fill up?"

I have a friend who argued before the Ky Supreme Court several times. The lack of intellectual accomplishment at that level is only matched by their fervor to find political cover for horrors.

Arresting the mayors sounds stupid, especially when their attorneys have tried to get in touch with the anthropomorphic canned ham's office without a response.

However, I think I'd be OK with the anthropomorphic canned ham jailing Mark Zuckerberg as he appears to be also threatening to do at the end of tfa.

Let them know they're going to love the next 30 years - get this - we've developed gas pumps that offer the option to pay - right there, at the pump!  It's pretty cool.

Wisconsin is so gerrymandered it is bad. Evers is trying to get a neutral board to redistrict the state, and that is having legal issues right now. I haven't heard much of it lately, and I have no idea what is going on. Then you have the voter ID law that farks people over. So republicans are going to be in control of the state for awhile. The state still has a chance to keep being blue for governor, and state senators.

It's been that way in South Carolina since they installed the credit card thingies on the pumps here. They'll get over it.

Was none of those idiots ever a poor high school student? You pay your money. You get that much gas. Your tank doesn't have to be topped off. Of course we could still fill up then pay when I was in high school, so everyone was very good at hitting exactly a certain whole dollar amount.

So if you are being threatened with jail for a crime you didn't commit, shouldn't that be considered an illegal threat and be actionable? I mean, this guy is literally trying these folks in the court of public opinion with lies. There has to be some sort of recourse against him.

Decorus: Would only apply if the moron had any actual legal powers.

The statute seems pretty broad, including any arbitrator, coroner, medical examiner, board, commission, commissioner, examiner, committee, or other officer or person authorized to take testimony. Since this circus was authorized by the state legislature and is being billed to the state dime, it would seem likely he is a "person authorized" with the power to take testimony. That, and hiring other clowns to help with the circus and writing a report for the legislature to boggle at, may be the extent of his legal powers -- but the first one seems to be all that is required by the statute.

Contrariwise, "the moron never asked" would seem a "reasonable excuse" for not giving testimony, and one that in a just world would trigger sanctions for the moron.

Nohow....

Too many drive offs.  People are poor and desperate and think they can get away with it. Sheriff finds them and follows them back to the gas station to pay, or face jail time.  in the end it wastes many peoples time.

Hi, it's me from the future. Bad news. It's not a good idea to use the card thingy at the pump anymore because criminals are skimming card #'s there. It's better to go inside and pay there first, preferably with cash.

I mean, he's a fat 55, looks like he also has a good case of hypertension.  I've seen worse looking people..

Hell, going through photos of my grandfather (he died at 45, a couple of years before I was born), he went from looking kinda like a Rock Hudson with a dad bod to looking like Walter Matthou within those few years before he died. Turns out it was his heart going bad.

Also, these horrible people who were just arrested in Michigan... according to news reports? 28 and 34 respectively.

I don't mean "sanctions", also known as "slap on the wrist". I mean legitimate charges, with a strong possibility of jail time.
I would find it difficult to not be in jail myself were I one of the targeted parties, and counting on jury nullification of my murder charges.

My understanding is that court sanctions can include jail time.
So, really, the problem is that sanctions tend to be lighter than merited by such offenses, and don't have a strong enough possibility.

And Horicon... And Mayville... The cashier at Kwik Trip can apparently just reset the pump on command, but not mark the one that was still waiting in the que not paid for as a drive off. Twice this year KT tried to charge me for 2 gas purchases because there were drive offs before me.  One of my self indulgences is Kwik Trip coffee. So yeah, I don't pay at the pump unless I'm in a hurry.  Gimme that black liquid slice of heaven.

And even if I did pay at the pump, not worried about scammers. KT has their own card.  If there is a skimmer on a KT pump, that would be, well, KT's problem.  Not mine.
