The leader of the party is Trump. The second in command is JFK Jr. It shouldn't be that hard to outmaneuver them, but, here we are.

2021-12-03 9:20:53 AM
Opposition for opposition's sake is a goal set. They don't need to stand for anything when their only goals involve gaining back power to make sure they never lose power again.

2021-12-03 9:56:41 AM
Keep ratcheting up the fear in white America and you don't need "goals".

Can't pay the bills? Who cares, it's all the Democrats fault!!!

2021-12-03 10:22:40 AM
Remember, they also had no party platform for the 2020 elections. They literally don't believe in anything.

2021-12-03 10:24:28 AM
Are you suggesting doing what Putin wants isn't an idea?

2021-12-03 10:26:55 AM
They don't care for new ideas. They just want to stick to making them and their friends richer.

2021-12-03 11:07:11 AM
Their platform is Let's Go Brandon. And because 'Muricans have the memories of goldfish, it's a likely winner.

2021-12-03 11:07:23 AM
Sure. Why bother? He won't be able to keep any promises and Trump won't stick to a script anyway.

It's hard to do when the entirety of the political spectrum excepting right wing fascist have all fallen under a single party tent in order to glean some representation.

2021-12-03 11:09:02 AM
The Trump admin taught them that they don't need to pretend to stand for something.  They have their real agenda -- representing the wealthy and business interests -- and now they don't have to pretend to have a public agenda.  Their public platform is now just "we all agree, Democrats are the worst.  Counting on your vote for GOP in 2022 and 2024.  After that we can just do away with voting for your convenience."  They're not going to lose any votes by doing that.  They're just cruising in on the final years to their endgame.

2021-12-03 11:11:13 AM
But the Dems don't inspire me. They don't stand for anything. You can't win elections by only running against someone. You have to give people a reason to vote for you. Shall I continue?

2021-12-03 11:11:56 AM
Why do you think they need ideas?  Policy does not matter.  They make Americans feel righteous and justified.  They don't need ideas.

2021-12-03 11:12:34 AM
Being a worthless asshole is a kind of agenda.

It's not that they don't want anything, it's that they literally want nothing. The thing they want is for nothing to get better. Because when things don't get better, people get mad, and people flock to the GOP.

2021-12-03 11:13:40 AM
By almost any measure - from President Biden's approval rating to the generic ballot - Republicans are enjoying their best political environment for a decade.

oh, yeah, AXIOS???

For that to be true, there would have to be no political fallout for a Republican President to lead a conspiracy to try to retain power illegally by starting a lie about voter fraud and inciting a mob to attack Congress.

and we all know

wait.

I guess that's mostly in line with being a "status quo" party

Here is where the GOP is at. Beating the dead horse that is the Laffer curve, lying that California, our most prosperous state by far, is failing and my favorite at 3:15, Biden is responsible for people not getting vaccinated.

So....punish the Democrats?

Fix their little red wagon?

2021-12-03 11:17:27 AM
Republicans are the party of the wealthy. Their legislative agenda is comprised of how to move more money to rich people while proclaiming that all the ills of the people who they are taking money away from are caused by the Democrats.

They don't want to be a modern country. They want to go back to being dirt-grubbing peasants toiling for their lord.

Or rather, they want someone else to go back to being dirt-grubbing peasants toiling for them.

They don't listen when you tell them that there simply aren't enough lord positions available for everyone, and if you want to work your way up from serf to lord, all it takes is hard work and a go-getter attitude.

So they won't be promising tax cuts?

The GQP has a platform and a set of guiding principles.  In no specific order:

1) Make the rich richer
2) Convert the US into a theocracy
3) Eliminate fair elections to ensure eternal GQP rule
4) Make sure wimmens, ni*BONG*s and others know their place

They just don't want to say them aloud because people get upset when they do, either because they're appalled or because they're not supposed to say the quiet parts out loud.

Yup, but points number 2 and 3 are not the goal, it's a means to the end.

Joy of being the opposition party. You don't need to promise to do things better in the future, just criticise those who are doing things today.

I've learned that everyday Americans that identify as Republican suddenly don't support Republicans when you read then aloud statements from the politicians they voted for in public.

I live in a small Missouri town. They're big dogs on Facebook but the moment you start reading aloud racist shot their politicians say suddenly they didn't vote for that person. I don't know how my governor and AG got elected because no one seems to have voted for them

Oh my god, I can not believe it. This is so correct. I can not believe how correct this is. My astonishment over the correctness of this statement has exceeded my ability to be able to comprehend it. I am going to share this post everywhere to show the world what correctness looks like.

During the mid-November dinner, McConnell told the donor it would be the job of the next Republican nominee for president in 2024 to lay out the party's future agenda.

I'm sure Trump will be all about laying out the party's future agenda.

And if there's one thing we learned from the elections of Presidents John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, it's precisely that.
