Where I am we fortunately haven't been hit much by COVID at all, yet my workplace is mandating vaccinations for everybody on site and I'm a big fan of that. How folks in the US which has been hit much harder are still obsessed with polticising this shiat is beyond me. How many deaths does it take before right-wingers decide it's worth acting? Why does Manchin want to kill people? Of course even with vaccine mandates there will still be some disease and therefore deaths, but why kill more than is necessary just so they can stigg'it?

If having a 48+2/50 is a majority and this is what we're getting out of it, it makes no sense to call this a majority since nothing can't get passed.

30 years of mass shootings have only caused republicans to make guns even easier to get, why would they care about people dying from a preventable illness? Somehow their calculations see more people dying as a good thing, and they aren't wrong because voters routinely reward them for it.

/yes, I'm just cutting to the point and calling Manchin a republican.

Not sure he has a fan club, so much as explainers  -- that if it isn't Manchin and Sinema, it would two Republicans and Mitch McConnell.

Not sure how that makes a difference other than the title of Majority Leader, but...

You know the only reason there is a "song&dance" at all is because the GOP doesn't control the Senate, right?

This whole "let the GOP retake the Senate because that will be less personally annoying for me" offers an intriguing insight into your mindset. What else should fascists control because it would be less annoying for you?

You're very lucky to be in Adelaide. I'm in Melbourne, with daily rates over 1,000, and my bosses are wanting us to come back into the office in the city twice a week. I've told them I'm not getting on a train until this beast is chained.
Hell, I have a 7 month old grandson, and there's no vaccine in his immediate future. But even leaving that aside, it's a hard no. Maskless mofos on every carriage. Screw that.

Basically he is signalling to the coalition that got him his job. That is the problem. His coalition includes very conservative people that includes some WV Republicans. No senator who values their career will ignore those who gave them his job.  Anyone who did not expect him to act this way the moment they knew it would be a Senate with 50 Republicans was being foolish.
The only way to take his power is to elect an an non-paper thin majority to the Senate.

If we elected more people like Manchin, we wouldn't have to worry about a single senator using a razor thin margin to get what he wants.

Fark this farkin guy forever and ever and ever.

Why does it have to be so hard to fight a goddamn pandemic?!

There could be a series of massive, unexplained wildfires and half of us would be walking into the fire to show everyone how it's no big deal and advocating for banning firefighters from helping. Removing OSHA requirements for accessible fire extinguishers and shiat. Starting more fires because the fire can't burn shiat if everything's already farking burnt!

More like stop, drop and BE CONTROLLED amirite?! One day, it's like a miracle, the fire will just get tired of burning shiat and go home!

Water?! Fark you, sheeple! I trust my god-given SALIVA!

806k people dead in America from covid, but vaccine mandates are too much.
2900 dead from planes hitting buildings was justification for a trillion dollars spent on a 20 year long war.

Coal companies should pay out for black lung.  Or any health-related issue.  Workers have the freedom to exchange time for labor.  The company owes them no more or no less.

/CSB
I was a contractor at a pharmaceutical company.  The company boss said that "labor is an agreement for pay and nothing more" When I gave my two weeks' notice, he switched over to "all the experience the company gave you - for free" and the camaraderie and purpose to life.

Got replaced by a company guy who refused to work Saturdays and wouldn't load the printers out where they shipped the radiopharmaceuticals.

Why can't they print wirelessly? Those radiopharmaceuticals are 5G, right?

Many companies are doing this voluntarily anyway.  It sucks that the government should need to get involved at all.  But when business cannot be trusted to do the right thing, that is when mandates are necessary.

I guess people like Munchkin are pretty well fine with business doing whatever they want.  Why is he a Democrat again?

He does not have a fan club here. Everyone who isn't a sh#tposter or astroturfer hates him.

But he's a walking strawman argument for anti-Dem leftist posters who want to use him as an emblem of the entire party, apparently so they can magically take over all liberal politics via constant online whinging.

Poster:  F#ck Manchin.  The only thing good about this situation is McConnell isn't in charge.

It pisses me to no avail when, every night for almost 2 years, the local news spends 99% of the broadcast talking about COVID and then when they talk about national political stuff they act like the GOP had nothing to do orchestrating the pandemic

Mostly because it's a stupid pandemic with, for all practical purposes, no media footage of the disease itself, or obvious "dude you should get yourself checkout with that whole bleeding from your eyes" thing.

Compare the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours have been broadcast dedicated to people claiming it's a hoax, being anti-vax or whatever versus to the "less than an hour" of footage dedicated to showing people breathing on respirators.
