Trump never read his daily briefing. They had to pitch it to him every day with puppet shows and Kabuki, with him as the protagonist.

Abandoned his duty?

What makes anyone think he ever made the slightest attempt at a 'duty'?

Dipsh*t seriously thought the US should nuke hurricanes.

It's blatantly obvious he's got a head full of bad wiring.

He was the most incompetent president in American history and his party worships him as a pagan god.

/gods don't work, they pass the work on to family members.

Most of the world is sane. Even most of the US is sane.

It's the scumbags of the world who take advantage of honest, sane people for no other reason than they're selfish and stupid.

They always lose in the end.

Can you picture a room full of 4 and 5 star generals, most of them 30+ year career folks, dressed in uniform, and being reduced to jangling a ring of keys in front of a loaded diaper they had to address as Sir, and Mister President?

It's a wonder they survived with a shred of sanity after four years of that.

Hard disagree with most of the US

Sure, he'll lose by 10 million votes. But enough of the US will vote for him that he might win.

I get that the CIA has to try to keep POTUS focused, but I don't think much would have been lost if they just let Orange Julius wander out of the big chair and out the front door.

/hint: it's not.

For an organization well known for setting up idiot dictators to fall down, the intel community sure is tolerant of that wannabe.

I am concerned that 1/3 of Americans want more of that shiat, indefinitely.

I'm picturing these guys in a room and TFG loads his diaper while mansplaining to these generals that he already knows everything about 'the Iraq' and it won't affect his re-election at all.

He used to have a Twitter account that he would use all the time while dutying.  But the mean people took it away from him.  :(

I was gonna say, how can you abandon something you've never done.

That's like me giving up on my diet, I'd have to start it first.

:)

But this is Fark, and it's about making people VERY angry.  Just look at the Greenlights every day in the "Politics" tab.

"Look at how STUPID <insert Republican lawmaker here> is!!!!"

Susan Collins, Trumpy, Boebert, blabbity blap blap.

And predictably, the hogs all line up at the trough to spit and curse and just drip hatred and vileness in every thread.

Gotta give em credit, whomever Greenlights all this knows how to play them heartstrings.

I still think the reason Repulican leadership loved him was 1) It kept the Mob at bay, 2) Zaphod Beeblebrox,while trump was shiatting himself, yelling, and thinking he was king.  They pushed thru tax changes and stacked the courts.   As long as Dump was yelling, no one paid attention to what was really going on.

2021-12-02 3:22:07 PM
You don't need to be briefed on threats to the country when you ARE the threat to the country.

2021-12-02 3:22:17 PM
He never gave a single crap about ANY briefing that couldn't be condensed down to a 3-slide powerpoint presentation that wasn't 100% about how AMAZING he is.

gopher321: Most of the world is sane. Even most of the US is sane.

Trouble is, that "most" of the US is too slim a majority to overcome gerrymandering, voter suppression, and the red/blue state bias in the Senate. Being 51% sane (concentrated in large cities) just isn't good enough.

To be fair: Why get briefed by the CIA on what Russia might be up to, when he just came back from the meeting with Putin to receive his marching orders?

People in the media and online were paying incredible amounts of attention to his freaking TWEETS literally every day all day.  Meanwhile behind the scenes the Republicans were stacking every level of the courts, signing laws into existence that nobody was looking at, and doing everything they could to disenfranchise as many voters as they could.

They no doubt LOVED Trump for that.  While Trump was jangling his keys on Twitter everyone was keeping their eyes off the ball.

"Donald Trump, while obsessing over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, abandoned one of his primary duties as president: to stay fully informed about potential threats to the nation"

President Trump was only ever concerned with potential threats to President Trump. Some threats to the nation were perceived as threats to Trump-the-Approval-Rating and Trump-the-Future-Candidate and Trump-the-Business-Brand, but there was never concern for the nation itself.

GodDAMN I love seeing old favorites again.  Mmm Russiagate!  So good!

Before, during and after.

He was a lazy, useless piece of shiat.

If he showed even a tiny bit of common decency, I'd pity him for whatever shiat his parents did to him, but he doesn't, so I don't.

I wish for his death. Hopefully it'll come soon. If it's also humiliating, like shiatting himself to death, that'll be icing on the cake, but not really necessary.

Everybody likes to bag on Bush for being dumb, but he's not a dumb man.  He's slightly above average.

The problem is that the President really needs to be more than just slightly above average, so Bush looked dumb as hell because he wasn't up to the job.

Trump really is as dumb as he looks.  Dumber, probably.

2021-12-02 3:32:20 PM
TFG doesn't believe in facts and thinks that all "truths" are just made up. The good ones are those that help him and he can get away with.

His whole existence is based on nihilism and theater. Even most con men can distinguish between the truth and a con that they are running.

I'd imagine that room would smell pretty bad, considering the last generals to wear five stars served in WWII and died years ago.
