I mean, we all figured the weebs would be the death of us all, right?

/Now I'm imagining "Don't Fear The Reaper" playing over scenes of fat nerds lying dead in a hotel ballroom, clutching their waifu pillows close, even in death

I'm guessing he flew to the convention.

That plane from South Africa had a 33% infection rate inside the plane, so, now you got it for sure.

Delta, omicron, what's next, the santorum variant? Side effects include "oily drippage".

I can't see a weeb actually flying to another state to attend something but I haven't been a weeb myself since like the 90s so i don't know I guess.

Ninja Scroll is the best non-ghibli japanimation.

A 53k person anime convention that had extremely lax vaccination requirements

It's not just GQP governors trying to kill us.

It's really really dumb to host anime conventions the middle of a pandemic. Some that are poorly ran or the organizers are full of shiat don't even have mask mandates. The ones that do can't control people outside of the event space. They'll go into hotel rooms with 20 people without masks drinking alcohol and dancing to some Love Live! song.

BTW, Kotori is the best girl.

I live in the area and attended, I can't see traveling to another state for those things, but I live in NYC, so those things come to us, the conventions that is.

You never hear about this sort of thing happening at Furry conventions.

/because they're wearing masks
//or because the attendees don't admit that they attended
///or because they canceled their large conventions as there's a pandemic

Lockdowns made sense when our only protection was social distancing. Now we have the better option of vaccinations.

I'm not.  America has collectively decided Covid is over.  There's no will or appetite to impose lockdowns, so we'll all pay for Americans need to be coddled and told that any sort of responsibility is the same as slavery.

Heh, I'm getting a kick out of this.  I've been out sick all week and it's either the Rona or the Flu.  I haven't been tested yet because I've barely left my bed in the last 3 days.  I would have assumed it was just the flu because I'm not coughing that much, but I lost my sense of taste.

The right-wingers that scream and cheer at school board meetings and arm up and occupy capitol or city hall steps and openly throw fits because they think wearing a mask is a liberal conspiracy - There's probably a limit of how deadly a disease has to be for its seriousness override their political bias.

Considering that you have droves of hard-right anti-vaxxers tweeting right-wing bullshiat literally up until they lack the strength to lift a phone and shortly before they die, I would guess that limit is somewhere the other side of Captain Trips.

Maybe not full lockdowns, but we definitely shouldn't be having events like this right now.  We're back up to ~1,500 deaths a day.

We just have to wait it out... they will get sick or die (or both) or get vaccinated eventually. New variants will take them out at some point when we're locking ourselves down for a while, avoiding the mouthbreathers. You may have to put some friends on pause.
Sucks, but plan on that for at least another year.

The mouthbreakers who the lockdown would supposedly be protecting would be the exact same ones ignoring the lockdown, rendering it pointless.

2021-12-02 2:29:51 PM
Yes. Travel bans will do little good now. Aside from 53,000 potential exposures at the convention, the new case has 0 connections to South Africa, unlike the previous case. In fact, there is a strong possibility that the omicron variant is European, not African, in origin. It just happened that the South African virus surveillance program worked, detecting a new variant shortly after it arose, but not in time to prevent it from spreading all around the globe.

You guys coming back out into public and crowding the restaurants with your stand up masks, sit down no masks are really bringing the rest of us down.   We'd rather not see you while we eat.

Yup. Let them go out and get sick. They have been given enough info and data to make an intelligent decision. If they can't do it, make sure that they can't backpedal and get a free ride at the hospital or a comp ICU visit.
It's time to use the term 'deplorables' again. Piss them off, so they gather in large groups.
Draw a damn line in the sand instead of coddling "All Americans".
It's time for ultimatums.
You have the right to refuse the vaccine, but relinquish your right to be treated if you require medical treatment.
You have the right to go out and get sick, but will be held liable for infecting others who need treatment.
I know it won't hold up legally, but we're so far down the hole now that at least it may get a good number of people to get a shot.

Most personality types need direction. Need to know where to go, be told what to do and when, need to know who is in charge, etc etc. Sheeple.
