That video knew exactly what buttons it pushed. Mind you, at that time a notion that certain ideas were harmless fun if they were just fantasies was assumed.  But it was actually Britney's own idea. She'd later spin it as her changing the outfit to make it "more fashionable" but she wasn't stupid.  She even sold the idea of the video as being like "Grease" to the skeptical director.  They had an entirely different video planned.  Then she changed their initial notion just to have herself and the dancers dressed in TShirts and jeans.  Then she altered the schoolgirl outfit.

It was ALL her, even at 16, which is why the later notions that she didn't know how to run her own career seemed so silly.

For all her considerable problems, she was actually good at the things she was good at. It wasn't strings being pulled at that point.

Mr_Vimes: A mentally unstable 40-year-old with two teenage kids, and a hankering for more. There's only so much shiat that being farking rich will excuse.


It appears that she's not into dangerous drugs so she probably won't "accidentally" off herself like so many other unstable Hollywood types but she could still end up in some dangerous situations with all the money and freedom she apparently has.

Since she has enough money to support whatever additional crotch fruit she might bring into the world I'm leaning towards do whatever you want so long as I don't ever have to listen to her "music".

Oh, and do porn.

Being abused and traumatized alters your perception. That she was the victim of abuse for years is absolutely no excuse for arguing that she can't take care of herself--it just means she needs therapy, like any victim of abuse, and she has the money to afford it.

Lots of people who are far less mentally stable than she is get help without being thrown in a legal cage.
