Why the face palm tag?

Crazy thought here, but maybe this just means people should get the shingles vaccine.

I didn't even know there was a vaccine for it.  I guess I have something to look forward to in a few years, once I'm eligible.

There are so few special birthday things later in life.

We had driving at 16, R rated movies at 18, legal alcohol at 21.

After that, it's just waiting til you qualify for senior discounts.

I see ads for the shingles vax all the time on TV.

I got it over the summer soon after I hit 50. It's a 2-shot regimen, spread over a few months. Side effects from the 2nd shot were a lot like my 2nd Moderna COVID shot, but worse. But don't let that discourage anyone from getting the shingles shot. I've heard some horror stories.

I got my shingles vax last year, I want no truck with that one. My daughter had shingles in the first grade, brought on by stress. There was a set of twin boys that picked her to torment daily, they were second graders. I didn't understand when she said the 'double boy' was picking on her. Her pediatrician said it was rare for a child to get shingles but that they were shingles. I ended up pulling her out of that school and sending her to the elementary school my SIL's kids went to, built-in older cousin bodyguards ftw. Nothing would have been done, their mom was a teacher at the school so...yeah.

It killed me to see her just sitting there and she would move her arm and brush her side and just cry out in pain. There were so many baking soda baths. Luckily she had a fairly mild case but those nerve twinges/pains can last for months.

Sr High health classes should've had units on aging.

And now the plot is revealed: SARS-COV-2 was invented in a lab so that Big Pharma could sell more shingles vaccine.

I had it at like 43. It sucked. I was miserable. And apparently I only had a mild case.

I was around that age when I had shingles as well.  It sucked.  I was miserable.  It was a mild case in a "convenient" dermatome, rather than, say... one of my eyeballs, but it was like having a horrible flu and fever that also had stabbing nerve pain in my side that lasted a month.  When it first showed up, I thought maybe I'd picked up poison ivy on a recent camping trip... but that's just how it starts, and it doesn't get any better from there.

What's most annoying is that I'm still not old enough for them to give me the shingles vaccine.  I'm reeeeally looking forward to checking that box off so I can avoid another round.
