Why not just fine the BUCS like they did the Packers?

Because the Packers were fined for not following protocols when they knew Rodgers was unvaccinated. Brown gave the Bucs a fake vaccine card. Maybe the Bucs will take a hit for not verifying the records  it the situations aren't the same at all.

The only thing that could make that better was if it was misspelled, or a backwards N or something, love it

How many games was Rogers suspended? If I recall, he missed one game because he had COVID.

If it wasn't for double standards there'd be no standards at all

Another false equivalency. Rodgers didn't lie to his team about being vaccinated. Brown did.

Rodgers only lied to the fans and the media. He didn't lie to the team or the NFL.

Brown lied to the team and the NFL. That's why he's suspended and Rodgers wasn't.

While Brown's violation is no doubt more serious due to the lying, both Brown and Rodgers broke multiple COVID protocols, yet only 1 is being punished.  It's the literal definition of a double standard.

Protocols were broken a lot last year, even during games. I don't recall how many people were suspended.

Providing false documentation is *always* a worse thing than the alternative, including providing *no* documentation and/or just being obtuse. For a CDL, for example, you may not go to jail if you don't have a current DOT physical certification and get into a commercial crash. If you *lie* about your health in order to pass a certification, or don't get a certification because you're aware of a disqualifying health condition, there's a *good* chance you're going to jail if you are in an accident. Taxes? Yeah you'll have penalties and fines and such if you don't file for awhile. Wage garnishments, etc. Filing and lying about it? saying you made 10% of what you made, for example? Yeah. That's where people go to jail.

What Rodgers violated by not masking and such was the Covid policies agreed upon by the NFL and the NFL players union. And he was fined for that. From NFL.com:

Rodgers and (Packers WR Allen Lazard)'s fines are a result of attending a team-sanctioned Halloween party, Garafolo reported. As both are unvaccinated, they are prohibited from attending gatherings outside team facilities. Per the NFL/NFLPA protocol guidelines, gathering outside of the club facility in a group of more than three players is subject to a $14,650 fine.

And the Packers were fined $300k for not enforcing the policies.

What Brown and the others who were suspended did was apparently provide fake vax cards, which means they didn't just break league rules but they broke the law by having a fake government-issued document. And again from NFL.com:

Any and all attempts by team personnel or players to use fake or forged cards, which is a federal criminal offense, are cause for review under the NFL's personal-conduct policy.

Thus, 3 games.

Do I think that Rodgers deserved more? Yeah. But this is what the league and players agreed upon and beyond that, I don't know if he deserved a suspension over his stupidity. Fine him a game check for the game he missed is probably the furthest I'd go.

True, I forgot they did, in fact, slap Rodgers on the wrist.  And it makes sense why suspension is on the table here, whereas I recall from stories around the Rodgers issue that COVID protocol breaking alone wasn't grounds for suspension, but repeated breaking could, but even though he did it repeatedly, it doesn't count because no one was enforcing the rules and telling him to cut that shiat out, so it all counted as his "first offense".

As for the game check, doesn't he already miss out on the one for the game he missed?  Unvaxxed players don't get paid for games they miss due to COVID, as far as I recall.  However, I've heard people mention that Rodgers' actual game check isn't much in relation to his total compensation.  I guess it's probably heavily weighted toward various bonuses.

Did Rogers put teammates and opponents at a greater risk of contracting COVID (and himself at greater risk of more significant symptoms)? I thought that was the reason the protocols were put in place--to protect the on-field product.

According to the NFL and Packers, Rodgers did follow other unvaccinated player protocols aside from the party he attended and the not wearing a mask in the press room. That's why Rodgers and the Packers were fined.

Brown, by showing a fraudulent vaccine card, wasn't subject to unvaccinated player protocols. See a difference?
