desertgeek: Off topic: if you want to know what a labor stoppage looks like in 2021, go look at the MLB website or any MLB team's website. Anything about an active MLB player is gone.

Of course, this comes on the heels of teams offering literally hundreds of millions of dollars to free agents. Spend obscene amounts of money then claim you can't afford to field a competitive team.

Polish Hussar: My question is, is this what a 2021 labor stoppage looks like, or is this what a labor stoppage with a commissioner as petty as Rob Manfred looks like?

NHL owners do a lot of dumb things, but I have to give them credit for putting things like maximum contract term in the collective bargaining agreement to try to limit how dumb they can be.

Good luck.  In most circumstances I'd have faith in the honesty of Canadians, but hockey is involved.

I just remembered something, Steve Dangle got Producer Drew to edit his LFR's this season in addition to his Sports Net stuff.  Producer Drew is an Avalanche fan.  The next LFR, Hat Picks, and Dang Its have the potential to be extra fun.

If you're referencing that MLB has just locked out the players, talk to me when they start missing games

See, I thought he was referring to the Liga Portugal...

Except for Leopold of Minnesota:
Right before the lockout that forced the salary cap, Minnesota signed Parise and Suter to 13-year $98M contracts and THEN fought for an lower limit on contract length and and a rollback and truncating of existing contracts.
The slimy bastard okay'd those ridiculous contracts thinking he wouldn't have to honour them fully.

It's the one 24 span of the year where I can say the Leafs are in first place overall.

Forbes reported this morning that the Coyotes are for sale with the goal of relocating to Houston.

The Coyotes and two local sources for reporters in Phoenix all are saying it's bullshiat

Forbes as turned into a complete neo-con rag vomiting rumors and half-truths on everything from real estate to COVID.  I'd sooner take point spread tips from a hot tub streamer.

This is the response from some Coyotes fans to all the rumors and bullshiat.

Flappyhead: bingethinker: JFC. I'm watching the Vancouver-Ottawa game, and the first intermission show was the Sportsnet studio commentators knob-slobbering the Leafs.

Those teams are dogshiat and their season is already over.  What the hell is there to say about them?

The same things they say for any game. Goal highlights, how things are going, etc. If I wanted to hear about the Leafs, I would be watching that channel.

Nice work, Yotes fans.

And Flappy is being generous to Forbes. It was always conservative in its way - I remember seeing hard-line anti-abortion editorials, signed off by Mr Forbes himself,  in a magazine otherwise entirely devoted to business stories, y'know, back when print was a thing.  But now it's essentially an open blogging platform, with no editorial control, which attracts its froth from a disproportionate number of right-wing crackpots. Probably because of those anti-abortion columns back in the day.
