Deslided. As usual, the images won't match after a few slides.

I am about a hour from Gettysburg. Also a good place to go hiking.

I don't understand the desire to visit a place where men sh*t their pants and beat each other to death. Yet, I read (devour, really) all of the books and diaries and movies.

I don't think I would handle it well being on the same ground men gave their life for... noble battles or wasted lives battles. Just to "experience" it.

Absolutely no judgement on those who do... I know you all mostly respect those that died fighting. Just a personal thing.

One I'd really stay away from is Normandy... I mean... Jesus. My grandfather landed there in the later waves after they took the beach. Just... so much carnage. Necessary carnage to defeat a true evil, but carnage nonetheless.

Some people think remembering the battlefield and the men that fought there, the sacrifice and all of that will somehow lead people and leaders to be aware of the sheer weight of their decisions to send men to battle. Yet you have had many leaders who visit Normandy to drop a wreath then go off to send young men and women off to die in foreign lands for absolutely nothing at all.

I'll get off my soapbox... not trying to be a downer. Remember to exit through the gift shop.
