Sure they are Smitty.
Even if WM or Tarjay had a sale I would buy it online, and both would still have a smaller margin due to the need to maintain brick and mortar stores.  The only reason both are competitive is due to massive public subsidies for their part time / contractor work force.
But we can't have single payer because so many employers want to pay for health care right?

Have you SEEN any piece of software Walmart has paid someone to write? That isn't "top software talent", that's "Indian sweatshop filled with people who failed out of their degree program".

Target around here used to be cool, but now the only men's clothing brand they carry is their shiatty store-brand.

I have been buying as much as possible from Target and Best Buy. Fark Amazon and Walmart.

20 years ago, Best Buy was like Disneyland.

Now I can't even think of a reason to step foot in one.

Hell nah. I'm lucky enough to have a MicroCenter nearby. Now that's Disneyland!

Then buy online. They deliver from the local store with their Geek Squad. If you live close enough. You are supporting people that pay taxes to your local area. But so many think this is not needed. Everything will be paid for by magic.

Buy what online?  That was the point, digital media killed their basic purpose for existence.

Also, it's funny that you're trying to argue for shopping at a big box chain because local economy.

Best Buy is also doing the "marketplace" thing, where half of what you find isn't actually sold or shipped by Best Buy, but some third party seller. With those products it's basically the same as Amazon.

That Box IS in the local community Duh. The box pays local taxes and so do the people that work there. A local store is better than a mil-order only. You can't see even that?????

And you buy the same shiat you would from Amazon. At the same price. My most recent purchase was a motherboard and CPU.

Shopping on Amazon has become a miserable experience due to the overwhelming amount of garbage with awful SEO'd product names by fake one-off Chinese brands that you have to sort through. If anything will throw their growth off it's going to be that.

I've been happy using their app for grocery and other 'pick up' items. I check in with the app...it knows what parking spot I'm in, and open the trunk and wait in the car. Then I roll down the window and guy comes out and lets me inspect fresh bits like meat, and if I approve....he'll load up my trunk.

Just went through the first 10 pages in my Amazon order history.  There were four items that Best Buy was likely to carry.

I checked up and they all cost 30-100% more at Best Buy currently (to be fair, some of those were especially good deals at the time, and one had a sale on a slightly different version that would have come out even.)

Did you check the current Amazon price against the current Best Buy price? I betcha you did not. You did get those items on sale so you are not comparing fairly.

You still have not addressed how your local area will survive without tax money coming in. When you can buy local then do it. Fark Amazon and Bezos.

And I explicitly stated as such.  But 0-40% higher just to make you happy.  There's no CCC for Best Buy to compare more than that.

Why not at least argue for local restaurants instead?  It wouldn't be nearly as comical.

If you think this issue is comical, you are deranged. I bet you biatch and moan about local services. And blame it all on libs.

Best Buy will match Amazon's prices on anything Amazon sells directly.

Have you been in one lately? It's like a dozen kiosks for major brands and very little product on the floor. I went to my local one yesterday to pick up my Switch and didn't recognize it. It's really sterile and I didn't see any unhelpful staff wandering the floor, they were all behind desks in front of large branded areas. The pick-up and check-out areas were in front of a huge storage area that used to be real estate for products, and they are putting eclectic lockers out front that will probably have 24/7 access.

If I can, I will order online and pick up from local places before I order from Amazon, but there are still items that you cannot find locally.

I was just about to being up MC. Anytime I need a component faster than just same-day, I head out to my local one. And I willingly spend time browsing when I'm there.

That's not how it necessarily works.

Best Buy created a subsidiary in 2016 to operate its e-commerce center in San Marcos and centralize internet orders in Texas. The firm charged online customers a local sales tax rate of 1.5 percent for San Marcos and half a percent for Hays County

Their 'purpose for existence' was never selling media, that was just a hook

The last two years aren't normal, but it is sad that if Sears had made it that far they could have parlayed it into another decade to die.
