Meanwhile in the US, a judge said we can't mandate vaccinations for healthcare workers, so I assume cops and firefighters will be exempted in a couple of days.

Still mad I have never seen a cop wearing a mask in public here.

Where I am it's reported that 6000 teachers may be excluded from the system due to them not being vaxxed.  This is being reported as if it were a calamity.

So we want people who are disconnected from reality and/or outstandingly selfish to be teaching and setting an example to our children?  Why?

... so it is good to get rid of them, if they are going to endanger people with their idiocy.

Spiffy only if you're not in their situation. Imagine if for some reason, maybe a different situation, you get suspended or fired for your legally allowed personal decisions or private opinions or actions.

Depends on whether you want children learning about reality or not

I don't believe people won't get a safe and fairly effective vaccine in the middle of a pandemic.

It would be like the coast guard throwing life jackets to people in the water, and the people saying "I'm not that stupid", and then drowning.

I just don't believe it.

Sure. We can imagine a different reason or a different situation. The problem is whatever conclusions you might draw from such an exercise might not be useful because it's a different reason or a different situation.

It should be raising red flags for your reasoning if you're primarily considering other situations than the one at hand.

Absolutely! I 100% agree with that. Personal decisions/options are excellent! BUT so are an employers ability to determine the terms of employment. You may choose to adhere to them. Or you may not. Absolutely your choice. You absolutely determine your own future.

Easily the smallest hill to die on and the dumbest way to lose your job.

If vaccination had no impact on one's ability to do the job, including workspace safety, you might have a point.

But it does.  The vaccinated are less likely to catch covid and develop symptoms, and thus less likely to spread it.
So you are free to disqualify yourself from the job.

Pretty sure a lot of people would love to take a city job. They get paid more than their private counterparts, have the benefit of a union, and a city with a war chest full of money that's used to cover for your arse.

We need AI teachers.  Most kids don't really want to go to school anyways, so we don't even need AI.  Some YouTube videos would be just as good.  And for the kids that do want to learn, we expend the compute power on AI teachers.  Teachers programmed to make the kids learn.  And learn the correct things.  We need to eliminate the meat from critical points in society.  Like teaching children.  The meat teachers can be corrupted, easily.  Sure an AI can be too, but we just wipe the drive and reload from a known good backup.  You can't (legally) do that with meat based teachers.

Problem solved.

Covid is the number one cop killer in the entire country, in the last year in change covid has killed more cops than any other single source. In fact so many cops have died from covid, that cops have made the top 20 most dangerous jobs list for the first time, at 20th place.

Despite all of the above, cops are using their unions to try and make sure that they are exempt from vaccine mandates.

We don't buy Walmart Kleenex but it is generally accepted tissue you buy at Walmart is kleenex.

We don't buy Target Band-Aids or CVS Bubble Wrap, but it is generally understand what it is.

We refer to any brand of stand-up personal watercraft as a Jet Ski even though Kawasaki is the only manufacturer of a Jet Ski. We understand the meaning.

Don't be obtuse.

Just because it's legal to do something doesn't mean employers are required to put up with your shiat. Employers can fire or decline to hire you for refusing to wear shoes, endorsing NAMBLA, picking your nose and eating the boogers in front of customers, using foul language, or expressing racist views, or covering your face in tattoos, on and on.

And those are things that, unlike being scared of vaccines, don't make simply breathing the same air as you a danger.

I think the next election will probably have about half a million less Republicans voting.  Talk about an upside!

Totally understand the point that we adopt brand names as the generic name for some things. That said, calling those who aren't police "civilians" is more problematic than calling Walmart tissue "Kleenex". It sets up an us versus them mentality. The civilians label makes it so that police don't view us as their peers, but as the "others" who need to respect them and be kept in line...

Back in the good old days, belonging to the Nazi party disqualified you from most public sector jobs.

Of course, back then, we still had veterans who had personally fought the Nazis serving in key positions.

It really does boggle the mind doesn't it?

I mean..... people who have add vaccines for measles, mumps, polio, rubella, etc. are SUDDENLY anti-vax during a deadly pandemic!?!?!? And around the world too! It's just MAGA morons. (although the correlation is sky high)

What ever happened to a basic sense of self preservation!?!?

The nice thing about this is that the TPS is usually the model agency for other municipal forces.  If budgets allow, where the TPS goes, everyone else tends to follow.

If my LEGAL actions were a threat to the health and safety of my coworkers you BET I would be fired and deserve it.

I'm not allowed to do any of these legal things at work office
* Target shoot
* Toss horse shoes
* Play Jarts
* Smoke
* Smoke weed
* Drink
* Split wood
* Practice welding
* Juggle chainsaws
* etc forever

The point is that YOUR freedom ends at the end of OTHER people's noses. Stop being a whiny selfish biotch and either consider other people or get used to isolation from decent folks who give a shiat about other. Moran.
