Actually I've never bothered to figure out how to watch the Science Channel with you guys.  Like at the same time.

But I do want to say HI.

Right now I can't even figure out what concentration of ATP to put in my relaxing solution, and I need to run over to another lab to borrow a cup of Triton.

But I DO know which tentacle to use for the "handshake."

Batten down the hatches!

I have an Elephant Ear (plant) that I had to bring in. Apparently, you're supposed to cut it down to ~6" and extract the bulb, which you then wrap in peat and store in a cool, dry place. Seems complicated.

I have to skin muscle fibers so they can be activated without the presence of a mouse.

Heh.  Sounds delicious.

I've had the same bottle of Everclear for years, and used it in a Skylab Fallout:

Skylab Fallout

1 oz 190 Alcohol (Everclear)
1 oz Blue Curacao
1 oz 151 Rum
1/2 oz Apricot Brandy
1 oz orange juice
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz Collins mix
stir, serve.
I put no ice into it. It looks like thick turquoise anti-freeze, really spacey.

That must be a major wave of the future.  There should be degrees in dronosophy, Masters of Dronical Science.

I had a guy do a survey of my roof with a drone, recently to see how to best install solar panels.  It was a cool tech, but I didn't get the panels due to a lack of confidence in some of their main people.  Someday.

The drone guy was good, but their PE, Professional Engineer, kept telling me that he is a real PE.

I asked him about the output of the inverters, if it is a pure sine wave or not, since some inverters produce a stepped approximation to a sine wave, even in an Uninterruptible Power Supply.  He had no clue but answered anyway: he said that with all the way the wires twist in a house the sine waves get wiggly and bent, but not theirs.  He may have known wood, but not electrical.

And their sales director came from another company where he had sold me a door that was supposed to be hurricane-proof, but I had to replace it, since it wasn't specced for that, it turned out.

I finally got a 5G phone, as they are going to shut off service for my non-5G phone by January.  It only took three trips to the wireless store.  I wound up getting  a 'free' android phone.  I couldn't make myself get an iPhone, but would have if they had the 'good' one.

Well I made quite a lot of it.

Xanthan gum is pretty easy to get because people use it to stabilize sauces and it's helpful in gluten-free breads I think.

So, my dad had another heart attack. He's OK. We couldn't even fly him out to PHX because COVID-19 has all the  free beds in the state. His pacemaker/defibrilator kicked in, but he wasn't breathing. When the paramedics got here, they tried hooking up the defibrilator and got a message from the defibrilator saying "Do Not Shock." But he wasn't breathing. The paramedics did CPR and brought him back.

"Do Not Shock." I had no idea they could relay messages like that. My dad is 85 and still kicking it.

I've been reading a book about the Apollo Guidance Computer.  You can really see how they pushed the state of the art to control a giant spacecraft from a little computer with 2K RAM and 38K ROM.  Their I/O systems to the radar, positioning rockets, sextant, etc seemed so primitive, and they had no floating point numbers, you had to know the exponent as you programmed it.

Wow, glad he pulled through.  That was pretty scary.  It is sometimes better not to go to the hospital, as you can avoid medical errors there that killed my brother's MIL last week, when they fed her through her breathing tube.

If he has an embedded pacemaker, maybe it is not working correctly and 'shocking' would have caused it to fail?  Or maybe it was smart enough to know that shocking was not the right thing to do.  Whatever happened, the CPR worked, and that sounds a lot less drastic than shock.

I'll do my best!

At least in Flagstaff lots of us are vaccinated, so less of a burden on the hospitals.

My boss's BIL recently died of Covid though - fully vaxxed but a breakthrough case.  We're worried that if there's a genetic component my boss's husband could be at higher risk.
