Dafatone: Brian Kelly also killed a kid, so...

yeah......surprised at how quickly that was *arm shrug*, "what are you gonna do, hey, he won 8 games this season.  let bygones be bygones."

i just googled it - as far as I can tell, the school was fined $80K and that was it.  there were the jerkoff "we're all gonna miss Declan" statements but it appears Kelly escaped any sanction.

What is it about the LSU job that has coaches lying through their teeth about taking it right up to the moment they do?

Story goes that the president of MSU (Peter McPherson) went to Nick Saban's house and straight up asked him if he was taking the LSU job. Saban lied to his face and said "No" while his wife was in another room on the phone with a moving company. The next day, Saban called McPherson to resign as MSU's coach from the private jet that was flying him to LSU to take the job there while his wife was back in Michigan boxing up their shiat.

$15 mln a year?

I get it from a CFP perspective where he'll have a better shot at winning a title than he does with ND not being able to ever play for a conference title and make it in...but damn

If they extend the playoffs and ND makes it before LSU, that's gonna be some funny shiat

He said that he would leave if they came with that $250 million check. From the sounds of it, with salary and incentives, LSU may have provided it. He didn't lie.

It's not just the LSU job.  Most coaches lie even when they know they are taking another job.  I don't really have a problem with that, answering honestly would just bring a shiat storm of trouble any time a coach was considering taking a different position.

What I do have a problem with is college coaches biatching and moaning about transfers and players sitting out of bowl games.  Don't preach about integrity and accountability when you're leaving a team that still has a shot to win the national championship (theoretically, GA is going to win it of course).

Subby here and Central Michigan alumnus.  Wrote this one up more or less because I was at Central when Brian Kelly did this the first time, so I've always found it funny when people take him at face value.  If he says he's staying, the money should be on him leaving.

If memory serves, Notre Dame dropped a bowl invite to play Central Michigan in 2009 after Brian Kelly ditched Cincy to coach Notre Dame.  Wish we had beaten the pants off of them (or had the chance), but watching the game of the year against the Troy Trojans was a damn fine consolation prize.

Also my use of 'we' is meant to encompass the whole school, I misuse it's usage a lot and never played any sports at Central...  Except two games of intramural softball.

/One win.
//Clerical error.
///We lost our appeal to rightfully award it to the other team.

ND could get into the playoff this year. He left for LSU with his team potentially in the playoff this year. It would be farking hilarious if ND got in and pulled off two upsets and won the title. And if that happens, ND should tell Brian Kelly "No, you're not welcome at the game and no, you will not get any bonus from winning because you quit."

/they aren't going to win the title, but the thought of it is too funny to not think about

I'll give Lincoln Riley a little credit because on Saturday after losing to Oklahoma State he did say he was not going to be the next LSU coach.

I didn't realize he was leaving right away and would finish the season, but I guess they wouldn't have announced it if that was the case. If ND gets in, you can bet they will have a chip on their shoulder.

my guess is that ND will basically never acknowledge how he built up ND, no matter what or how ND accomplishes/finishes this season, until he's like, 84 years old and on his deathbed and they put in him their eequivalent of the ring of honor or whatever.  they gotta be farking furious.  His name's gotta be Mudd for a good 15-20 years in South Bend.

the transfer portal has changed things to the players' benefit but yeah, there was always that.

Spencer Rattler, a Chandler/Gilbert HS product (suburbs of Phoenix) just entered the portal after it appears Oklahoma or A&M, Nebraska, whatever (I don't really follow NCAAFB) and the speculation is he's coming back home.  Jayden Daniels hasn't really progressed as ASU's QB and apparently Rattler grew up as a Devils fan.  who knows.

notre dame will hire away someone else's coach without a second thought and continue with the butthurt act with no acknowledgement of the hipocrisy.

Nah.  Because of this move, even if all three of Michigan, Cincinnati, and Oklahoma State lose their respective games this weekend, Notre Dame won't even be considered for the playoffs.  Which means if any of them lose, the SEC title game will be a glorified scrimmage, and we can look forward to probably yet another all-SEC National Championship.

I thought he was in some Federal Witness Coaches Relocation Program the way he left Mt Pleasant.

Found this little story on how he treated two Grad Asses ; both are now NFL head coaches.
