I see it does not address income inequality and the destruction of the middle class. The rage that middle America feels is directly tied to this. BLM had this at the core. Native nations continually suffer and are utterly ignored. White America is feeling what the Rest Of America has been feeling, all the while the wealthy and political elites deflect anywhere and everywhere else.

Sadly, Bill Clinton could have helped to reverse some of the policies that Reagan and Bush I set in motion. But he wanted a moderate "Third Way" that would annoy as few conservatives as possible. I don't blame Barack Obama -- he was just the guy who had to pick up the pieces after the economy broke while the GOP was trying to obstruct him in every possible way.

Meanwhile, my Trumper stepfather always blames everything on "Democrat" higher taxes when, in fact, effective tax rates for corporations and the rich have never been lower. Where do we go from here?

I mean, if one party is hell bent on destroying America and the other thinks it might be nice to pay people a living wage, acknowledging that will mean that both sides really isn't true.

And once you lose that, what have you got left.

I dare say, it's more about an economic classifications than anything decidedly racial. America (and the whole world) has shat upon the poor since ... like... forever.

Well I think it's more I'm white, know all about it and don't care.

The country will be 50% brown before too long. And that chicken will come to roost.

AdmirableSnackbar: Is there even one American institution that isn't entirely corrupt?

"Entirely"? Sure plenty. Somewhat corrupt, probably not.

Between working three jobs to put a roof over their head and trying to raise a family, "America" didn't have time to even start to learn until the pandemic.

They just knew they were being screwed and the Republicans provided a scapegoat of the Democrats.

Every single thing in America is irredeemably corrupt.

Except for me.  I'm honest and trustworthy.  I'm not out here pretending to be something I'm not.

Oh yeah, Americans are deeply propagandized, and carry the unconscious belief that "it will all work out, someone else will fix it".  After all, we've been told our whole lives how special and perfect our democracy is, despite what's been increasingly obvious since 2000.

IMO, one of the biggest failings when it comes to teaching about the holocaust in my education is focusing way too much on the literal facts and figures, and less on the abstract social reasons on how and why it was allowed to happen.

Like, everybody knows the Nazis killed millions of people. Everybody knows they burned books. And any jackass with a martyr complex can co-opt that imagery to say "goodness gosh, this is just like the Nazis!" But far too few people see the frightening parallel with us rounding up certain people and callously dismissing it because "they're illegal" or "it's good for the economy."

USPS is pretty solid except for the Trump corksucker and his helpers. National Park services are good in my book, except underfunded so I'm sure there's some pissed off slacking rangers. US Mint doesn't seem to fark around and they make all those collectors series that give old people something to buy and give to grand-kids... who will crack them open and buy candy.

Could go on...

Because they fundamentally don't understand that their rights will get taken away if they get what they want. The Murdochs of the world aren't going to share power with the people they view as hicks and fruitcakes. They're just slitting their own throats because the TV told them to.

Also, the thing that's doubly insane about the whole gas prices thing is...

Like, the automotive and oil industries conspired to destroy large swathes of American cities and their public transportation to force us to be dependent upon their products. Like, the bad guy from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'s plan actually happened, and... People are just okay with it.

Whenever I'm like, "hey, that's kinda farked up. Maybe we should start rebuilding cities to be more walkable and have more dependable public transportation, and stop being so dependent upon private automobiles and start weening ourselves of fossil fuels," people look at me like I'm the crazy one and then are like "nah, we just need to build Elon's hyperloop. The solution to all these traffic problems is that we clearly need to make a hollow earth so we can load shiatty cars onto other shiatty cars and shoot them around."

considering it is becoming the former-republican network, are you surprised?

Even Stephanie Ruhle is banging the "workers need to get back into the office!" drum.  Citing things like how young workers are missing out on chances to be mentored by more senior staff since they are not in the conference room meetings anymore.

ignoring the fact that 1) young workers were never in those meetings to begin with and 2) you can mentor remotely without sexually harassing the mentee in person.

the water cooler effect only works if the big cheese and workers actually use the same water cooler.  Once the big bosses are on another floor or building, then the effect goes to zero.

Only intentionally broken by the GOP. You could fix the USPS in a busy afternoon of congress. Until Trump, even hamstrung by the pension funding, they did better than UPS, Fedex, Amazon at a volume many times their combined totals to places they wouldn't go.
