Unless they legalize post-mortem voting, this isn't a viable long-term strategy.

Well, this is still baffling to me. They are killing off their most rabid supporters (and pissing off scores of people who's loved ones died) how is this going to help them in their fascist takeover? At least Nazi Germany knew that you need numbers so they farked like crazy to create more Aryan babies. Killing off your base doesn't seems to be a risky strategy.

/I'm not sure that you'll gain enough "freedom" lovers to make up for the Covid-dead Republican fanatics.

I do appreciate the objective proof that they aren't against paying people unemployment, they're just paying those people unemployment.

What a mistake that is. Tyrannies get brought down eventually. Placate the masses and you control better than fear, with bread and circuses.

The evil overlord list includes mentions of being a benevolent dictator, that way the populace protects you from the hero that seeks to overthrow you

/also that most plans need to be run past a 5 year old for quality control

Sure they lose the people who die but they're probably gambling on picking up a bunch of the survivors who have brain fog.

That was a long article so didn't read it

I assume the summary is that they plan to pay people fired etc for non vaccination to support them.

Did I miss anything?

2021-11-30 2:10:50 PM
How do they know you were not vaccintaed?  I am perfectly willing to lie to Republicans in order to take their money since they always do the same to us.

Salon's limousine liberals need as many people working during the pandemic as possible or the workers will have even more bargaining power so calling unemployment benefits that you pay into a bribe is part of their narrative here.

Austria's solution of only locking down the unvaccinated sounds like cromulent policy right about now.

2021-11-30 2:14:55 PM
Pretty sure all those states are employment at will. Just don't admit the reason. Say it's for cause and that's that Best part is it's these assholes who made it that way. The disdain they have for their own supporters is palpable.

L-Oh-farkin-L
So republicans big bribe is to offer up unemployment insurance......in republican controlled states. Aaaaahhhh hahahaha, so have they added the requirement to take an electric shock to the groin every morning you receive benefits yet, or has ALEC not gotten that one out of committee yet? What a bunch of farking clownshoe, they can't help but trip over their own dicklets.

2021-11-30 2:15:51 PM
On a slightly more serious answer, even if the states try an end around on unemployment benefits I don't see how it would work.

If an employer makes vaccination a condition of employment (legal), and offers the accommodation of testing at the employee's expense (legal), and the employee refuses then it would stand that the onus is on the employee. Add in that all but one state is at-will employment then all an employer needs to do is dismiss for failing to follow policy, and not detail what the policy was.

Also doesn't help anyone already terminated as we have laws against ex-post facto laws

well, they seem to be the ones crying here about middle class and poor people getting unemployment benefits.

{sigh}  These farkers!  First they kick you off extended COVID unemployment benefits during the shutdown to force you back into the dangerous sweatshops.  Now they give you unemployment benefits for being an idiot plague rat and general asshole to society, but they still won't give you expanded Medicare/Medicaid when your ass gets COVID.

These people cannot be reasoned with.  We used to get frustrated with them simply voting against their own best interests but now they are voting for people who are actively trying to kill them and turn our democracy into a christo-fascist kakistocracy.

Klivian: Also doesn't help anyone already terminated as we have laws against ex-post facto laws

Ex post facto is only for criminal law. The state can't criminally punish someone for something that was legal at the time.

The state can, however, give someone a private right of action to sue someone else for something that was legal at the time.

2021-11-30 2:26:40 PM
Of course the hypocritical Rethuglicans, who whined about people getting Unemployment benefits because of COVID are okay if it's specifically antivaxxers.  Or course.  Hypocrisy 101.

Learned something new today, interesting.

Given the oppositional way that unemployment works, I still don't see recourse unless the states include provisions that this will not be counted against a company's unemployment insurance quota. The irony compared with the complaints about "welfare queens"

Breaking things and then blaming Democrats for things being broken is a long-standing GOP political strategy.

All things considered, what makes you think this is actually supposed to help anybody? Their constituents don't care about results - they care about whether the politician made a show of sticking it to those libruls.

Circusdog320: Killing off their base...what's the downside?

The only real downside is that until they're actually dead, they'll continue to tie up an already damn-near-horse-beaten-to-death medical system while denying care to people who are suffering from non-pandemic related problems and may just happen to not be a bunch of plague rats.

But it's minor in comparison to the death of gobs of idiots.

As far as I have read, an extra dose of the vaccine causes no harm.

2021-11-30 2:54:48 PM
This is easy.
Go on every news network and talk about how many people in urban areas are vaccinated but are claiming they were fired for refusing the vaccine.
Use their welfare queen talking point to tick off the base.
