You can take Stafford out of the Detroit Lions, but you cant take the Detroit Lions out of Stafford.

He's your problem now, LA.

AntonChigger: Staffords back has fractures from carrying the entire Lions team for 10 years, and strong rumors have it he's playing hurt with several nagging injuries, at least some of which were acquired right around the time the rams started to slow nosedive they are currently in. The guy is a qb with elite skills, an seemingly inexhaustible arm, and insane toughness who also makes bad mental mistakes and stuck it out in Detroit to try to make something out of that dumpster fire, and it cost him. It's sad to see.

/probably going to at least win a playoff game this year tho, no reason to panic at 7-4

Stafford is the root cause in the Lions' problems, exacerbated by the owners caring more about hanging out with athletes and having a tax break than actually running a successful football organization.  No matter how many times they changed the playcallers, coaches or receivers, Stafford more often than not ran out of gas because of unaddressed injuries that he decided to play through (he is an adult and can say no if it's going to be a problem.)  They threw obscene amounts of cash at him because he might repeat 2011 and pop off, but it never came.  2011 also ended with the Lions getting BTFO by the Saints in the wildcard and that was all she wrote.

Sure the Lions are gonna Lion, but let's not pretend like he's some saint who sacrificed himself to make the Lions into contenders.  I won't pretend either like the owners aren't the problem either.  If this team doesn't win a playoff game in 3-5 years, fires the front end and coaches and tries again, the league should force the team to be sold.  The Fords have had over a half century to make this team successful and treating them with kid gloves is an embarrassment to the city of Detroit and the NFL.

Killer Cars: browneye: He has gotten to the point where it's very obvious he really, REALLY loves the sound of his own voice.

True, but if a major broadcaster like ESPN keeps paying you more money while giving you even more airtime, the clear signal from up top is "hey, keep doing that thing you do but even louder and more often"

I heard a couple weeks ago that first takes ratings have absolutely tanked since Max kellerman left. Obviously I'm not gonna be of the opinion that Max "made" the show or anything silly like that, but it is comforting to know that finally people are sick enough of Stephen A's shiat to stop watching. Maybe in 1000 years or whenever his contact is up, ESPN might not renew it.
