(Daily Boulder)   Of course, Trump has nothing to hide. He wants to keep White House records around January 6 secret because he's a man of principles. Not because there's a lot of incriminating evidence, like this, that could land him in prison   (dailyboulder.com) divider line

First of all, Fake News! Trump didn't call the command center at all.

Second of all, if Trump did call the command center, it was just to tell them to keep the protest extra-peaceful.

Finally, if Trump called the command center and directed them to attack the Capitol, well, that was his right. The election was stolen from him!I

Chessmate, JaredLetos!

It is helpful that we can always trust Trump's motives in anything he does. Any time he complains, it makes it easier to tell where the useful evidence is.

Gallant's motto is "if you always tell the truth, you never have to worry about keeping your story straight."

Goofus's motto is "if you never let anything get out, you never have to worry about keeping your story straight."

Good. I can chat with them to pass the time as we all sit here and wait for something to actually happen. These "bombshell" revelations of stuff which was obvious at the time are not it. Scheduling a debate next week to discuss the possibility of sending a recommendation to write a strongly worded letter is not it. What are the consequences so far? Bannon had to waste an afternoon signing some papers and he might face a $2000 fine a few years from now? Good job everyone. Western Democracy has been saved.

To be fair, TFG's first instinct is to lie and cover up anything he has ever done because his entire life he's gotten in trouble for breaking the law. Not that he understands any of it, he's much too stupid to make the connection, but like any creature he tries to run away from things that hurt him.

Well, this certainly looks bad for Trump.  I'm sure the Republicans are all willing to do anything they can to get to the bottom of this now

(and by "get to the bottom of this" I mean, delay, deflect and make sure they aren't implicated in any way)

Not yet. The committee is going to subpoena everyone else, ensure that they have a solid pile of evidence & testimony, then drag his fat, bloated orange lying ass into that room and, on every goddamned camera & recorder they can pull out, show the world that Donald J. Trump is a truly monumental piece of farking shiat, not merely a seditionist who tried to exploit a cult-like following to overturn the United States government because he lost the election.

We're at the "nibbling the ear" part of the foreplay. Don't rush things. It'll be sooooooo good.

2021-11-30 12:06:38 PM
Trump wants to hide things because he is an insecure narcissist who sees any attempt to investigate anything remotely connected to him as a conspiracy against him personally and because he sees asserting some authority to withhold information as making him look powerful and strong.

His actions need to be viewed with that understanding of his personality. His obstinance is not necessarily indicative of guilt; it is just a manifestation of his insecure need for constant control over everything.

In our country, it's very difficult to hold a politician accountable, even if they try to overthrow our democracy as Trump did, if one of our two main political parties, and the overwhelming majority of their voters, support what he did. The GOP has shown they are happy to jettison democracy in favor of power. The system isn't designed to handle that. I'm not sure any system is.

Teddy Brosevelt: Literally everyone knows the men behind the curtain of the 1/6 insurrection were donnyboy and his cadre of maga traitors in his administration.  Everyone.  You think the GOP would be protesting so loudly if they had nothing to hide?  Do something already.

They are. This is, quite possibly, the most damning investigation since the Civil War. We're seeing history in the making - a seated President, with the collusion of a significant portion of his administration and the support of extremists in his political party, attempted to overthrow the United States government after he lost an election.

Let them dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s, so that there won't be a question, at all, of having assholes later try to retcon history & erect statues of Trump in southern states, or start a "Sons of MAGA" historical organization, or have any goddamned politician ever pander to the folks who "survived the 'War of Liberal Aggression'" in a sad attempt to scrape votes from bigots, crazies, and the moronically disaffected.

I am not trying to imply a belief that Trump is not guilty. However, in Trump's mind he is always innocent and everything that he does is right. Any attempt to investigate him is unfair persecution. From his perspective, blocking the release of documents is not an attempt to cover up guilt (because he does not believe that he is guilty), it as an attempt to counter unfair persecution of him and an attempt to exert power and control.

This is the guardian source article.  Still doesn't lay it out the way we would want to see it: see names and phone numbers and hear recordings.  We'll never see that.

It does distinguish Giuliani as a conspirator who purposely kept the "tactical" and "strategic" players separate to ensure attorney/client privilege, because the strategic side was complicit in illegal activity.  Duh.
